Multiple PR Applications in different streams

Hello, I'm new to the forums.

I applied to sponsor my husband 28 months ago under the Family Sponsorship (inside Canada) program. A total of 28 months has passed without any decision or even determining if I (as the sponsor) am eligible. We've already paid all the fees, submitted police checks and multiple medical checks. We recently got our local MP's office involved to write a letter asking them to speed up the application. We have tried at length to speak to IRCC through their phone number, and despite going through all the prompts, we can no longer ever reach an agent and receive an automated message telling us to try later (tried from multiple different phones, at different times of day and through different prompts).

My husband obtained his PhD here a year ago and has Canadian work experience in his field; he qualifies to apply for Express Entry under the Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program.

My question is: Can a person submit multiple PR applications? In our case, they are in different streams. One in Family Sponsorship, one for Express Entry Economic class.

To my knowledge and based on personal research, I can find nothing on both the IRCC website or in legal statutes that prohibit this.

I appreciate your feedback!

Yes. You will need to pay fees separately and submit documents separately.

My lawyer was telling me that we can apply for multiple PR - paying everywhere and cancelling the second one as soon as receive decision on one of it
