Multiple hosts, one guest

My mother and I will be hosting the guest (my friend).

I just finished university, got a job and live with my mom in her house (proof of property/ownership) so she'll be supporting more of the expenses for the guest.

Mom never met the friend.

The question is: Do I need to have 2 letters of invitation (from myself and mom) or can one suffice (outlining mom being the other host as well as providing proof of salary, ownership)?

Edit:

Found out that in order to prove salary I need a copy of a T4. I don't have one yet since I haven't been employed for one year.

So now I think my mom has to make the invitation later. ???

Frustrating.

Edit #2: Is it recommendable to have two letters of invitation? Is that too many?

When I was still dating my husband (Canadian citizen), we decided to visit his family in Ontario. We were both living in Japan in separate houses. He wrote me a sort of invitation letter stating that both of us would be staying at his parents' home in Canada. Then his dad also sent me an invitation letter from Canada to be included in my application.

In my opinion, two letters is never too much, as long as both are from true Canadian citizens or legal residents. Make sure to attach a photocopy of Canadian ID or SIN.

My mom(host) knows the guest through me. Is the proper designation of their relationship "Friends"?
I would say "friends" is the best term... they are not family or relatives or business partners, so "friends" should be ok.

Your mother could write something like "I have met Ms.(friend's name) through my son in (year) and have been in contact as friends. She will be staying at my home located at (address) until (departure date)."
