Multiple citizenship query (BRA/CAN/ITA)

Hello guys!

I am Brazilian by birth, Canadian by naturalization and I'm currently living in Europe. I am married to an Italian citizen and in order to make my life a bit easier I am considering acquiring the Italian citizenship by marriage, but I wouldn't want to renounce my Canadian one.

I know Brazil, Canada and UK all support dual citizenship, but since this would be my 3rd, I'd like to have your input on this.

- Since my Canadian citizenship happened through naturalization, would it be a problem to acquire another one?
- I read many stories about giving up on other citizenship due to double-taxing. I never had any issues on my Brazilian/Canadian on this matter and I wonder if an European status would impact me in any way.

Thank you all in advance!

Hi;
I don't think that you will have problem for your multiple citizenship. The only thing is about the taxation. Some countries have taxes agreement which is allowed you to pay the difference. France and Canada have a taxe agreement I use it to pay my taxes in France since I am living in Canada. I only pay the difference in euros with exchange rate of the day. Check with Italian and Canadian taxe authorities to see if a such agreement exists. For the rest, nothing to worry about since those countries accept dual or multiple citizenships.

Yes, you can have multiple citizenships...not a problem. As to taxation, only the USA and Eritrea tax based on citizenship. The other countries you mentioned tax based on being resident in that country. So, it is where you are resident that will determine where you pay tax.
