Goodday House,

I want my wife to go for an Msc programme in canada with our 2 kids and myself included in her application for the visa.

Is there a possibility that 4 of us would get the visa, presently I work in Nigeria and would be paying for the whole trip myself?

If three of you are going for visitor visa then no problem. But if you are accompany with her study permit for TRV then IN my opinion the rate of rejection is high.

Hi,

I am curious to hear why the rate of rejection is high for the visitors visa in this case?

I was advised by the university to try to do this....as an option to the open work permit for dependents which they said the rejection rate was high for.

Thank you!

Because if the whole family is coming then they will be severing ties with their home country and CIC will assume their plan is to remain in Canada long term.

Birch- I donno , i don't get answers for this Q alone where ever I post :(

OK so , as per my thoughts I am going to go with this.As planned, I will go on study permit and then will have my husband come over after a 2 months or so on a TRV w/o OWP. Later at teh POE/ via whichever feasible way, planning to get a OWP after he lands in teh country.

I suppose that should work well.

Thanks,

But the 2 kids are minors, 3 & 1 year old.

What if my wife and the 2 kids apply for the TRV. Then I apply for a visitor visa?

Yes! There seems to be few people who write about their experiences doing this!
I am still looking for other experiences.
The university told me to apply at the same time for the study permit and TRV as visitor, although others in this forum said to wait to invite my common law partner.
If you say rejection rate is high, the university told me in their experience more people have been able to go like this, and the rejection rate is higher on open work permits for study permit's common law partner (which in theory they have a right to). So I am confused whether I should try to go for the open work permit for him?

Good luck everyone, this is very tough and emotionally hard to go through...

I do believe no one can tell exactly if you have an high chance or not when it comes to visas for accompanying family members as all depends on individual cases. establishing home ties goes beyond just leaving behind family members in your home countries, there are other factors that can be used to prove home ties e.g. properties.

I myself will be heading to Canada for masters in 2013 fall and will be accompanied by my wife on OWP and my two kids on TRV. Our case was made even complex by the fact that we did not apply from our home country.

i feel luck, proper presentation of your application ( with clear attempts to remove doubts in the visa officers mind by proving relevant supporting documents) and prayers is all that is required after all the options was made available for pple with family.

best of luck

If you have strong tie with your country and able to prove it and also present your application well, I think it will not be a problem.

Well said I believe its a 50/50 thing.

I would make the application for her and include the 2 kids with myself also.

If the 4 of us gets it good but if otherwise I stay put in Naija and apply for visitors.

I filled this assessment through David Cohen and it seems I qualify for the Quebec Skilled Worker Program and about to pay the first fee of $900.

Has anyone had success with him?

Or what do you guys think?
