MS Industrial or Electronics after BS Electrical Engineering?

Hi,

I want to apply for MEng in University of Regina.

I have BSc Electrical Engineering.

Which course should I apply MEng Industrial Systems or Electronics Systems?

Which course will be better for job prospects and PR in Canada?

Should I chose MEng project based or co-op?

Hi hahsan14,

I think if you imagine yourself working in a manufacturing sort of environment after your studies then I think "Industrial Systems" might be a better choice as I believe the classes would be more general and encompassing of production processes (automotive, semiconductor). I think "Electronics Systems" might be a more targeted course for students who want to work within the boundaries of electronics - maybe even research work. This is just my opinion based on reading University of Regina's EE Department website ( http://www.urengineering.ca/programs)

I was also thinking I prefer Industrial Engineering as already have got knoledge in Electrical Engineering. Industrial seems generic degree and I can go for job in any industry.

having undergrad electrical engineering, Will MEng Industrial Systems will be mismatch in field and cause issue in Visa or is it safe to go ahead?

I don't think it's going to be a problem. Both programs are practically offered by the same department in Regina which means that the two are related. I think your acceptance letter will mention the details about from which department the program is begin offered to and you can always explain in your SOP how the skills you acquired from your undergrad will be amplified through taking Industrial Systems. That's my take on that.
