@bis_86,
Do you have any research experience in the field of your interest? Did you take any courses related to data science ( Machine Learning, Classification etc.)?

1. If BI stands for Business Intelligence than you can convert this experience to the strength of your application. Especially if you were involved in some interesting projects which you should definitely mention in your SoP.

2. Calculate your GPA for each year of your studies separately and see if there is a progress, i.e. consistent improvement in your marks.
Also, check your GPA for the last two years and see if it is better then your total GPA.

3. You also will increase your chances to get offer If you can provide references from profs known in their areas

P.S. You took Machine Learning course developed by Stanford or Hopkins? The second one is not free and it is a part of coursera's specialization programs. So it "weighs" more.

Hello,

I am currently pursuing my Bachelors in CS,
I want to make my career in data science.So I thought of Doing masters in Data science.(will be applying for Fall 2015)
I have done the machine learning,R programming courses from coursera and another course from local Institute on Hadoop and its Ecosystem

I wanted to know how good is SFU's big data program.Are there any freshers in this program?And how are the job prospects for such graduates in canada?
If you have not joined SFU,Which university did you join?

Thanks!
