I'm new here pero I've been reading posts since December forum na to. Nagapply rin ako for PNP under General Stream last June 2010 at nareceive ko na ang immigrant visa ko last March. Exactly the same issued date kina gingerific and iab03 (14mar11). Nakabili na rin ako ng ticket for via CX/WS for July departure bound to YWG. Nagpost ako kasi gusto ko magsuggest for those na nageexpect na maissue ng kanilang visa few months from now at aalis by September onwards. Book your flight N-O-W!! Reservations are free. I had no choice but to move it to July. Kaso 2nd to the lowest fare ng CX ang nakuha ko, not bad pa rin naman to think na its super peak season na from May-Aug at since staff ako rito they only charged me usd10 mark-up.
Hindi ko na sasabihin kung san ako work kasi baka mapagalitan ako at dinisclose ko ung mga mark-ups and actual fare ng mga airlines but what I can recommend is to book yourselves now. The agent will provide a deadline to issue the ticket. Kaso nga lang fares are always subject to change until such time that the ticket has been issued. Inissue ko na ung ticket for last 31Mar11 kasi most of the airlines (yes including CX) has announced na they will be implementing a fuel surcharge increase starting 01Apr11 ticket issuance so sayang naman. Here are some very very useful tips.
1. I suggest that you purchase ticket from the point of origin, so tayong mga pinoy sa forum na to syempre dito sa pinas, I do not recommend that your relatives purchase the ticket for you sa Canada, this will definitely turn out to be expensive.
2. Recommended airlines na maganda ang connecting flights PR&AC, CX&WS or AC, KE&AC, JL&AC
(CX-Cathay Pacific, PR-Philippine Airlines, AC-Air Canada, WS-West Jet, KE-Korean Air, JL-Japan Airlines)
3. Avoid using China Airlines or Eva Air as your out-MNL flight to Canada, this is cheap, opo totoo yan, pero please review carefully ang itinerary, this will turn out to have long layover sa Taipei at ang connecting flight mo to Canada will be the following day from your arrival at the point of entry sa Canada. Note na wlang free complimentary hotel na kasama sa ticket mo, you will literally have to stay overnight at the airport and wait for your connecting flight from Vancouver-Winnipeg.
4. Ensure na ang flight booking mo is spelled EXACTLY the same sa iyong passport. Kung may suffix (JR, SR, etc) or kung ang name mo ba ay spelled as MARIA or MA?
5. For those who have kids na below 12yrs old you can get a 50%discount sa PH travel tax. Pero in reality, its not actually 50%. For those traveling with infants 2yrs old and below, they may get a full 100% discount or TAX exemption certificate (TEC). Pero again, maglalabas ka parin ng Php200 so Php1420 ang natipid mo.
6. Ensure na ang travel agency na pagissuehan mo ay IATA accredited at hindi NON-IATA accredited. IATA agency are the one's allowed by the world wide regulatory body to issue the ticket. Syempre kung sa Non-IATA agency ka, magmamark-up pa sila on top sa kinoquote ng IATA agency na pinagkukunan nila ng ticket.
HAPPY BOOKING EVERYONE! Hope my blog will truly help everyone.
Good luck at sana makahuli kayo ng mababang airfare! See you in Canada!
