My friend who is based in winnipeg says it can take up to 7 years to receive professional license. They might ask you to do volunteer work, pass their exams etc. Here is one such organization for engineers : APEGM

Very true... as the MPNP, "The process takes both time and money." ;)

Dear Friends,

Congratulations All who received the LAA, today i also received my LAA my score is 615. still i am bit confuse. since my uncle is stay in Winnipeg but i mention to stay in Thompson where my employbility is high.

is anybody got clarification on above if my uncle help to settle in Thompson would be fine or i should decline this LAA and wait for next round ?

Decline it and resubmit a new EOI. The rules are clear unless you have a sponsor that is based in Thompson

Nick, I haven't received any reply yet. One of agent here said even friend lives outside of Winnipeg still hard to get that 50 points. Unless family members.
LAA long way for me :)

an agent told me that even friend lives outside of Winnipeg still hard for applicant to get that 50 points, unless family members live outside of the capital city. is it true? anyone with experience in the situation? thanks

MPNP under the Expression of Interest System – Draw #1 – May 20, 2015

Skilled Workers in Manitoba

Number of Letters of Advice to Apply issued: 76

Ranking score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 700

Skilled Workers Overseas

Number of Letters of Advice to Apply issued: 75

Ranking score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 607

PLEASE NOTE:

1. For reasons which could include a large existing inventory of un-assessed applications; low labour market-demand; and/or significant barriers to labour market participation, Expressions of Interest from Skilled Workers Overseas in the following occupations have not been considered in this draw:
•Registered Nurses
•Secondary and Elementary School Teachers
•Vocational and College Instructors
•University Professors
•General and Specialist Physicians

2. If your score is higher than that of the lowest-ranked candidate, but you have not received an Letter of Advice to Apply, this could be because:
•You have indicated that you have taken a n approved third-party language test to demonstrate your language ability in English/French, but have not provided a valid Test Number in your EOI
•You have indicated that you have received an Invitation to Apply to the MPNP under a Strategic Initiative, but did not provide a valid Invitation Number
•You have indicated that you are working in an occupation that is considered regulated and are fully licensed to practice in your profession or trade in Manitoba, but your occupation is not regulated.

Please note that for each question in EOI, help text is available, providing detailed information on the information you should enter. If one of these scenarios applies to you, you may wish to update your EOI with the correct information in order to be considered for the next draw from the EOI pool.
Hi drunkensheep,

Its very helpful to know that information. How did you get that? Do you have connection inside?

Good day everyone! :D I am new here and been searching this kind of forum since the day I applied for EOI-SW. I've read the entire conversation and been very helpful and positive. I just hope all of us here will soon get their LAA. My score is a bit lower than your scores here but I am positive enough that MPNP will give everyone a fair share since all of us were accepted and qualified to apply. A matter of right time probably. Good luck everyone and congratulations to those who received their LAA. God bless us all!:) :D

Frank, the +50 points is for all applicants regardless of the type of connection they may have to Manitoba as long as their destination is outside Winnipeg.

"In addition to Adaptability points, you may also score points for Regional Immigration for having a connection to, and planning to settle in, a region of Manitoba outside the city of Winnipeg."
