Hi folks, I asked MP to check with IRCC and this is what they said

"I spoke with IRCC and they advised that an interview has been recommended which may delay the process. You should receive information outlining this. There has been no other progress in the application, so I am not sure how you want to proceed.

Please keep our office informed. Thank you."

Does that mean I need to visit the embassy in my country in person or would the interview be online, how long would it take them to interview me?
Please note I still do not see any changes in the application

All you can do is be patient. Yes sounds like interview may be required.

Wondering if I need to defer or continue online classes meanwhile
Well an interview can take weeks or months. You need to decide what to do. If you are allowed to begin online then studies may not count toward PGWP and if refused, you don’t get your money back.

Oh ok, so if for some days I study online for the same days, only that period wouldn't be counted towards PGWP right?

Also if IRCC rejected my visa, will university won't refund the 1st year fee

Correct.
You have to check with your university. Most will not issue a refund if you started the program and beyond the withdrawal date even if study permit is refused.

That is the huge risk with studying online while waiting for a study permit approval. You are attending the classes, submitting assignments that will be graded, taking tests, etc. so it would be hard to justify why you qualified for a refund since you were receiving the education that you were paying for. There may be exceptions to the rule but would not count on it’s. Deferral may seem like the end of the world but is the safest option

Got it, I've emailed the university advisor but they said I am flagging this with our Immigration team. I will keep you informed.

I will ask them on Monday if I should start the classes or not because I already got the invite for online classes

The school wants your money. So they will most likely suggest to you that taking online classes while you wait for the study permit is the way to go.

I personally think this is a bad choice for the reasons you've been told perviously. Don't do any online studies. Defer your studies to the next semester.
