Background info: I'm a Canadian citizen (born and raised) currently living in South Korea with my wife (applicant with Korean nationality) whom I'm sponsoring. We applied outland. After the move, we plan on staying in Canada permanently. We don't have any children or dependents.
My wife and I are planning to move to Canada together next month. We submitted her family class application in July 2015 and is still listed as "In Process." We understand that we are within the normal time frame, but we have been planning to move for next month because of work (me, not my sponsored spouse) and personal/family reasons.
I'm planning on emailing our visa application office (Manila) this week to inform them of our plans and to notify them of a future change of address. Is there anything else I should include in this email?
Also, as far as I know, it is alright for my spouse to come with me to Canada with her application listed as "In Process," but I'm not sure about what entry visa she would get. Would she enter as a tourist, or is there a special visa for families waiting for their documents to be processed by the CIC? Besides explaining the above to an Immigration Officer at the airport, is there anything else I should tell them?
If her papers aren't processed in a timely manner, how long would she be able to stay with me in Canada? What are our options for extending her stay?
I was wondering if any of you guys have some tips or would like to share some past experiences with CIC when moving to Canada before your application has been processed. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
