Moving to Canada while Application is being Processed?

Hi again,

Our plan is to move to Canada in January (we currently live in the UK), but I would suspect our application (for me to sponsor my British husband) will still be in the processing stage. What are the logistics of moving mid-application? What kind of visa/permit could we get for him?

Thanks,
Alison

ludnan,
If you filed an outland application then any interviews (if necessary) that are requested will be held in the country to which the PR application was filed in (region specific). Also, any correspondence that is sent by the embassy responsible for the PR applicant will be mailed to the address you provided on the application forms.

As far as the visa goes, I don't know if embassies in developed countries, like the UK, deal with TRV's (temporary resident visas) in non-developed countries, like in my situation. This will determine the level of difficulty to obtain one for your husband. Check out this link...

Hope this helps!

Thanks very much, canthai. He is a UK citizen, so it looks like he doesn't need a TRV. I'm just conscious that (interview aside) the CIC might not like him entering the country while his PRV is being processed (i.e. for fear he tries to disappear into the mix or something!) I wouldn't want to compromise his chances of the PRV by making him look dodgy in any way!

Does anyone know anything about that type of situation?
