Hi All

I am planning to move to Canada next month,

I have some questions regarding landing

1) Is apply for PR card part of landing process or do I need to submit separate IM 5444E PR forms to get PR card.

2) If it is part of landing process and don't need to submit any separate form, can I submit them my new photos which are in accordance with new specifications for PR card when I will arrive in Canada. Because I have checked the Photos I have already submitted to CIC are bit different from new photo requirements.

3) regarding money to carry- is it necessary to carry 16000 for two persons in form of cash or drafts while first time landing in Canada or less money around 2000-3000 $ in cash and rest of the amount as bank statements will solve the purpose as I dont want to carry that much money in form of drafts or cash. I am intending to transfer it from my oversears accounts once I will be in Canada.

Please reply

waiting for earliest reply

Many thanks in advance

regards

1) Yes. They will apply for PR card during landing, you have to provide your address in Canada so that you can receive PR card after approximately two months. You can provide your friend or relatives if you don't have a place to stay yet.

2) No., The photo should be the same photo as you handed in when they asked for your passport get stamped.

3) $16000 CAD is sufficient. You can just bring a bank statement just in case they need to see. It is not safe if you carry so much cash with you.

I would like to add few things:

Yes, it's part of landing. You don't have to fill out the form, the IMM Officer will do it himself.

The Officer won't probably check if the photos are in perfect size. So, I would recommend you to bring both size photos. And definitely the ones, you previously provided for IMM Visa or PR card.

If you're carrying $10,000 or more, you have to notify CBSA (Read: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/security-securite/cbcr-dmte/how-comment-eng.html). I would tell you to carry less than $10,000.
