Hey everyone,
I am planning on coming to Canada from the US to stay with my Girlfriend for 6 months as a visitor. While I am there I plan to check out Graduate schools, with the intention of attending school in Canada and obtaining a student visa. I have the financial means to support myself for the 6 months and statements to prove this. My problem is; will I be able to move my material goods across the border as a visitor for 6 months? I have a mattress that I would like to bring with me, but other than that just usual clothes, ect. I understand that this can raise some eyebrows and designate me as an individual who does not intend to leave after my 6 months. I have made some calls and talked to several people and they have either not known or just said don't risk it. Does anyone know any steps or paperwork that I could potentially fill out so that I could bring materials across the border without raising questions?

Hi,

Same thought, why you want to risk it?
Carrying clothes or accessories does not seems unusual.
However, for the mattress, I am doubtful.
Any how you can get good mattress even in Canada.

Good Luck

Don't bring the mattress. That's a red flag that you are not just a visitor. You want to avoid any risks in of getting a 1 year exclusion order.

No - there is no paperwork that would allow you to bring your mattress here. Visitors are not allowed to move here.
