Unless you have expensive furniture it is probably cheaper to purchase new stuff if you don’t want to drive your own stuff across the country. Cheapest option is put as much stuff in your own car with or without a uhaul trailer and drive your stuff yourself. Moving across country is expensive. Please suggest some cheap rate moving companies or container box cheaper to move my furniture from Vancouver to Toronto? Also car shipping from Vancouver to Toronto?please help
Its seems to be very expensive.thank you so much for your response. When I moved to the east coast from Vancouver, I paid $4700 for all our stuff, plus $2000 for the car via train
Vancouver is very far away so yes it will be expensive. 5k is actually a pretty low quote. Depending on the size of home and type of moving services it can be much more expensive. Its seems to be very expensive.thank you so much for your response.
5k was for BC/PEI. Toronto might be less expensive.Vancouver is very far away so yes it will be expensive. 5k is actually a pretty low quote. Depending on the size of home and type of moving services it can be much more expensive.
I actually think this is really reasonable. I am surprised that all can be done less than 10k.Its seems to be very expensive.thank you so much for your response.

There are always exceptions....Several options from experience:
1) Local moves:
a) Hire a professional moving company. Do not DIY.
2) Local Storage moves
a) Rent a container, corten steel container if possible.
b) if no space for the container, use a moving and storage service.
3) Long distance moves
a) Sell all the furniture, send the boxes on a pallette, shrink-wrapped and starpped down.
b) If you have irreplaceable items, hire a moving company just for that or rent a truck and drive it yourself.
c) Hire any local moving company with generally better reviews, that is affiliated with a van line and wait several weeks.
d) Hire a local moving company that will move you directly.
e) DIY with rentable and long distance containers. U-Box, PODS, ABF U-Pack etc.
4) Vehicle Shipping
a) via train. Livingston.
b) enclosed or open. MVS, Hansen's, TFX
---open and train, your car will get dirty.
Consider that pricing will always be about 2x of what you expected.
Good luck![]()
