Hello All,Seniors / JES_ON

I am working as Sr Programmer analyst for almost 3 years for my company. I applied PR under cEC in the month January 2013 under 2174 NOC code, its the same code under which my 3 year work permit is issued.

Now I am moving to BA role which is definitely not a 2174 NOV code. Please advise if this move can have any adverse impact on my permanent residency application.

Do they ask for updated Employment letter / reference letter etc etc?

Thanks,

I don't see any problems with it. You may however, have to notify CIC for any changes (address, employment, etc). Remember your application is accessed on the basis of documents and the job experience you had at the time of applying and NOT on what you would do after you've applied.

Thanks aquareo

Also, please note that I am not moving on same work permit as that work permit was issued for NOC code 2174. I applied for BOWP as the current work permit is expiring.

I am hoping to get Open workpermit which allows you to work anywhere..

Let me know if it asserts my move...

From the instruction guide:

advise the visa office, of any change to your contact information. This includes:
mailing address
telephone number
facsimile number (fax)
e-mail address
There's no need to inform CIC about changes in your job. Even if you leave your job or whatever. CIC will make a decision
based on the information provided in your application, not on your present situation.

As per the AOR:

Please inform the visa office of any changes in your application (e.g. birth or adoption of a child, marriage or common-law relationship, new occupation or employer, change of address, change of e-mail address, change of immigration representative, etc). Please include a letter identifying what the changes are and any relevant supporting documents. If your documents are not in English or French, send a notarized (certified) translation with a copy of the originals.

Informing them of a change to your employment is fine, they request it in the AOR.

I agree there is absolutely No Need to inform CIc if you are moving from Sr Dev to BA role. I dont think its required.

I undestand in IT role change is v frequent and has lot of overlasp as well.

It wont impact the application but as CIC specifically ask to be notified, applicants should in fact notify them...

As you have mentioned you are waiting for your BOWP, you *technically* should not start working in your new job until you receive that (as you currently have a close work permit if I understand correctly). I don't know if that will have any direct impact..

Thanks guys for your response.

orko,

Yes, I will not be commencing my until I get my new Work permit. As my current work permit is for NOC code 2174 and would like to stick around a bit with the same role.

Thanks again all of you.

Now I have another questions - what about my FSW2 application? FSW2 application was file back in 2011 under arrange employment category.

Andy / jsm / Sara,

Any comments on this?

I agree that -
- the change in position will not affect your CEC application
- there is no real need to inform CIC of this
- you can't change positions until you get a new work permit.

But, the FSW2 application is another matter. Once you have the new work permit and are ready to change positions, you should file an updated job offer letter (along with a copy of the new work permit), with the new position details (which hopefully reflects a promotion); the letter should re-affirm your employer's intention to hire you permanently once you become a permanent resident.
