Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I would like to have some opinion from those people that have already moved to Canada about what moving company to choose.

Please share your experiences.

Thank you.

If possible rent a U-Haul and move to Canada. You will save a lot of money. As long as you have 2 copies of everything you are moving, its pretty straightforward when moving from the US to Canada.

That's what I did when I moved cross country in Canada, rented a Ryder truck and did it myself. I have heard too many bad things about moving companies. The bill grows astronomically between the time your stuff is loaded on the truck and the time it arrives and if you don't pay, you don't get your stuff.

CanSun and Leon

Thanks for the reponse in this subject. But the only reason why I cannot rent a truck and go is because it is only myself to unload when I get to Canada, I can not do this on my own, I have some really heavy furniture that I will not be able to carry it myself. We'll see if there is anyone else out there with a different experience than you guys.

Thanks again.

Well, if you rent a U-Haul, on their website you will find e-Movers, they will come Upload in USA and Unload in Canada. I wanted to go that way as well, however I have family and I cannot take everyone in the Cabin with car seats.

I have used e-movers help for loading and unloading and they are amazing, two people will come and move everything while you sit and drink Coffee.

If you really want to use the moving company, Atlas moving is the best as per my friends experience. You can reserve them Online and the consultant will explain you everything, you can buy insurance for your electronics etc. as well, but of course, it is pricier than U-Haul ~ your choice.

If you really wanted to get a U-haul, you could drive it yourself with your spouse following with kids in another (your) car. You can buy cheap 2 way radios to chat with each other along the way. It's an idea anyway. Of course will only work if your spouse can drive :)

Thanks Leon, I did that in US~two way radio, I drive truck and wife drive my van with kids. However, when I will leave from here, I will burn all ships, I will not have any car of my own and I am planning to sell everything I have may be not a good idea but I won't have a place to live in the beginning, I may rent rooms and God knows what kind of jobs I will have to do so I may not have this Fancy living style as I have in US. So its better to go with nothing and buy all over once settle somewhere in Canada.

This is my thought only, things may change if I have a job offer from my current company in Canada.

Thanks for all the valuable information you guys had.

I think I might be just doing what NewYorker did. I will probably sell everything, rent a 6' x 12' trailer from U-Haul and than tow it with my SUV just to bring the essentials with me, like clothes, electronics, etc.
