I have a few questions regarding citizenship and even though I've read what seems like a hundred hours of information, I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for...
My sister in law has been living back and forth between Canada and the Bahamas for two years now. I'm not 100% sure on the dates, but she has been back in the Bahamas for about 2 months. She is married to a man from the Bahamas (they were married in Nassau) and she has been trying to get the necessary paperwork to work there for quite some time, but she finds it difficult and claims the government there is confusing and slow. Her husband has also applied for some kind of working permits for Canada but has not gotten very far with the process (I really don't know how much effort he has put into this) but he was allowed to come stay here for 6 months, so he lived here with her from the fall of 2013 to early 2014.
This week, they found out they are 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. I don't know what health care is like in the Bahamas but she is not a citizen so we are concerned for her, especially since she has some underlying medical issues. I did read that if she doesn't move back to Canada soon she will lose her health coverage, but understandably she doesn't want to move back without the father of her unborn child.
If she moves back here to have the baby and he is allowed to be here on visit, will this make it easier for him to stay here long term? I know that is a pretty vague question but any help would be extremely appreciated. This is a pretty unexpected family issue that none of us know how to deal with and we would love a point in the right direction
