Moving back to Canada ahead of PR - do sponsor & applicant both change address?

Hi all,
I've probably had this question answered before but I can't find the answer and we leave on Monday for Canada so please forgive me if you have answered!

We have been living in the UK for 2.5 years, I am the sponsor, he the applicant. His forms were received December 2014, I was approved sponsor Feb 2015, VO is London.

I am moving back to start my business again - he is coming with me for three month bursts until we hear about his PR.

Question 1: do we both need to inform of our address change or just me?
We will be dual intent so his trips back to the UK will be for a couple of weeks to see his daughter, if we don't change the address for him he might not get his PR card for 3 months.

Question 2: should we inform them of the change BEFORE we leave or AFTER we've arrived in Canada?

Since you are both leaving on Monday to come to Canada you both need to change your address . At this point it doesn't matter if you change it today or Next week .My husband is coming at the end of the month and next week we are changing the address.


If he is only going to the U.K for short visits its better his Corp comes to Canada . From there you can flagpole and land at a boarder crossing or the next time he comes back to Canada via the U.K he can land then .

Thanks Taffy - when you say it's better his 'Corp' comes to Canada what does that mean? Should I change his address to the same Canadian address as me or should his address not stay the same as it is now - a UK address? I am confused - I thought if we changed his address to a Canadian address then that doesn't show he's going to be going back to the UK? On ecas it says he should inform his VO, should we also send an email to London VO and fill them in?

Hes not going back to the U.K it doesn't matter that he doesn't have his PR he is in Canada with you on Duel intent to return to the U.K if his papers don't come through .. Lots of done it . It won't show up on ecas for a bit either . You want his CORP which is THE SAME AS pR papers to come to Canada . No worries good luck . Keep us posted how it goes when you arrive. I'm a little worried about hubbie getting through ,but we have every thing paper wise that we can think of for CBSA. Been watching to much Boarder security lol

Ha ha us too!!! We love that programme but it's made us paranoid!!!

What are you taking Taffy - we are taking copies of screen shots from ecas showing his application status, as well as a copy of the receipt for his application and screen shots of the email I sent today to London VO to let them know he'd be staying with me and the new address.

Are you in Canada and your hubby is coming over? if so, when?

Hubbie coming 27th two weeks happy happy happy .. I sent him the receipt for the application , screen shot of in process and i made sure he had a letter from work saying that his job is open for 6 months ...also my SA letter .. Hes bringing the cat so had to be extra careful .

My poor husband is doing his best but packing up a house and leaving a job he has been for 20 years is a strain on him . At times i just think i should have just gone home as i am a Brit also and then we wouldn't have all this BS to deal with ... Lets see how he coops with the winter here ..

Hi Taffy, it can be tough packing up a house - my partner has his own removals business so that part for me is easy - he is organising the shipping etc.

Were you born in Canada or the UK? How long have you been back in Canada and where are you?

Fingers crossed for you Taffy - should have guessed you were Welsh with a name like that!

How long have you been living the trans-Atlantic life with your hubby? I could only manage a few months which is why I moved back to the UK.

Why would you doubt your application will be approved or are you simply being cautiously optimistic?

Just can't do the long distance any longer . Easier for him to give up his job and come here than for me to get a job over there.


The way CIC has screwed up our application its better to have a 2nd plan in place . They have lost documents after documents . so disgusted but it is all in their hands. Personally i think they should all have a kick up the arse.
In that 16 months both my parents have passed away.Frigging sucks being so far . I can't wait to see him now. where part are you coming too? Jonesy a typical Welsh name too but your English correct one parent Welsh . I remember when you first came on here we were all talking and wowers too who is Welsh .

How on earth did CIC manage to screw it up so badly? I guess they haven't apologised for the screw ups have they? Not that it would help move things along faster but it would be nice if they admitted it.

That's terrible about your parents passing away whilst you've been apart from your husband.

We are moving back to Coldwater - about an hour and a half North of Tronno - where are you Taffy?

And Jones isn't actually a Welsh name, it was the name given to the Welsh people when England conquered it and they couldn't pronounce the proper Welsh surnames - that's why there's so many! My family is Manchester pretty far back.

What does your hubby do and what do you do over there? Have you updated his ecas with his Canadian address?

I sent you a pm .. Haven't changed address yet .. going to do it after the 18th that's when his medical was due by .. then if they make a decision and send his papers to Canada he will be here to pick them up . I don't want them going to his U.K address and we don't get them. You never know with Royal Mail if they will let someone else pick them up.
