Thanks all for great tips on this issue. Plan on applying for citizenship papers since she will likely be entering the country separately with my wife as I drive a moving van across. More worried about border crossing delays than the application process. But will certainly keep her off of the application as well.

If your baby is under 2 and a half yo you can apply for an emergency passport. My daughter (born outland to a Canadian father) was over that age limit when we started this process, so, although she was listed as a dependent child of mine, we got our money back and were told that she should not be included in my application. We have applied for her proof of citizenship certificate and were told it would take a year or so... But got it in 6 months and then applied for her Canadian passport, which was ready in 1 month. Now she is free to go see daddy.
