Okay, so I live just outside of Detroit, MI. My girlfriend lives in Windsor just a few minutes from the border, we've been dating for just over a year and a half. I have my TRP ( That was just renewed for another year in August ) because I had a DUI back in April of 2012. So I personally don't have any issue crossing in to Canada. Often times the officers ask me 'how long were you gone?' until they realize I don't live in Canada.

I have two children from a previous marriage that go to school here in the states. I just received an order from the custody judge that allows me to take the kids into Canada ( currently waiting to get their passports ). The situation is this, before my girlfriend and I get married, we're hoping for me to move to Canada on my TRP for 6-12 months. During which time ( during the school year ) I would commute the kids to school in the morning and evening when I had them ( I have them one week on, one week off ). Now, if I move to Canada, which as far as I am aware right now I am allowed to, am I going to have problems if I bring my kids with me and commute them to school and what not?

This is the only thing that I'm worried about and that is potentially holding us back from pursuing this plan. We tried to have her move here first but the only way for her to move to the states is for us to get married, and we both want to live together first before we get married.

Thanks for your time!
