Hi friends

Me, my wife and our daughter recently got COPR and we want to take our mother along with us on visitor visa for sometime.
Can anyone guide me, for following points:

1. Can we apply for her visitor visa basis our COPR?
2. We all are vaccinated with Sputnik, which is not approved in Canada. So, hope thats not an issue if we agree to quarantine
3. What all documents should I attach with her application?
4. Do the Canadian authorities grant visa to parent easily?

I am very worried for her visa and want to take her along with us, as there is no one here with her.
Please guide, for any points which I should consider in mind. Thanks in advance.

1. This is a bad idea and generally significantly lowers the chance of approval since it can make IRCC concerned that she is trying to move to Canada with you. Best path for the highest chance of success is to move to Canada first (without your mother) and then have her apply for a TRV 6-8 months after you have made the move.
2. No issues. You'll just have to quarantine.
3. You'll want to read through the requirements on the IRCC site and also read through the posts in the Visitors section of the forum to see what additional evidence should be provided. Your mother will want to show she has strong ties to her home country and has no plans on remaining in Canada long term. Ways to show this are through: proof of employment, proof of business ownership, proof of property ownership, and proof of other assets in her home country. She will also want to show she has enough savings to cover the costs of her trip. If she has previous travel to countries requiring visa such as the US and UK, this will increase the chances of approval.
4. No, not necessarily.

Thanks a lot Scylla for your reply.
I agree with your 1st point totally. But the only issue is that I lost my father recently, and its very difficult to leave her here alone, being the only son.
If it would have been 1 or 2 months, its understandable and easy to manage for her. But, for 5 or 6 months, I think it will be depressing for her.

Can you please suggest something, what is workable in our case and everything in the process remain smooth, rather than difficult experience for any of us?

Thanks a lot in advance.

If you don't want to wait, then apply now for your mother's TRV or after 1-2 months. That's ultimately up to you.

This will fit the criteria of being workable for you but this will not guarantee a smooth process. Applying sooner creates greater risk that IRCC may be concerned you want to move your mother to Canada with you. This is why I suggested waiting. But since waiting isn't an option, then apply according to the schedule that fits your needs and hope for the best. As said in my original post, your mother will need to show ties to her home country to demonstrate she is only coming as a visitor, as well as fund to cover her trip.

1. She is applying as a visitor. You are not PRs. You haven’t even landed so she needs to show why she needs to visit Canada. She can’t state family reunification.
2. You need to quarantine.
3. She needs to show all her own funds and strong ties to home country. She isn’t moving to Canada. She is visiting.
4. Not if seen as moving.

You should wait until you are settled, but your choice.

Thanks for your revert,
I explained by situation above. Can you please suggest a situation accordingly.

All she can do is apply for the visitor visa and see what happens. Don’t know where she lives so processing times can be long. You being her only son and losing your father actually work against her because she has no ties to her country.

Funds - bank accounts, liquid assets, she needs to show that she can afford to visit Canada (airfare, expenses etc.).
Ties - strong ties to country like property, family, job etc.
Return ticket - don’t buy one but show itinerary for trip
Purpose - planned itinerary, she is not reuniting with family so you can’t support her with letter of invitation.

It's more important that she show ties to her home country.

The more ties she shows to Canada the more IRCC may be concerned that she has plans to remain in Canada long term.

I would really focus on ties to her home country.

Also be aware that processing times are quite long right now for TRVs. Not sure which country your mother will be applying from. But keep that in mind.

We are in India right now, processing time showing on the website is 150 days approx, not sure if they will expedite this.

Her visa won't be expedited.

The processing time you see online is an estimate. So possible it could take more and also certainly possible it could take less time. The estimated time is a good ballpark and what you should plan for.

No Biometrics.

If we land there first, then apply her visa after getting job etc., will she have better chances and faster visa??
Biometrics is an issue. She will have to wait for that too as processing times don’t include completing biometrics. There is no “faster“ visa. Her chances are dependant on her profile - funds, ties to country.
