Hello Friends

I am a PR living in Ontario since 2014. My mother usually visits me during summer, she has Indian passport.
Last winter she was visiting my sisters in USA and because of covid and border closure, she had to stay back in USA till now.

Her US visa extension was applied online and now that ends in Nov, so she has to leave USA.She cant fly alone to Indian and under these situation we dont want to risk her health...so she has to come to stay with me in Canada.

The CIC website says parents of PR can visit Canada but they need to have reasons. I called CIC helpline today but they dont have staff to answer phones.

Can experienced members share some advice on what is best way ahead.
We don't want her to fly to Toronto and then get stopped at immigration.

I can fly to USA and bring her back with me...but will she be allowed to enter Canada?

Parents of PR are allowed. You do not need any special reason they are exempt. I would suggest book a ticket for her and have a quarantine plan submitted.
A friend of mine had his parents come last week from India

Maybe check whether your travel would be considered essential travel to the US and also fact that if you do that you would be subject to the 14 day quarantine on return as well. Also note that she will need to ensure she can answer any questions posed about authorisation to travel at the airline checkin in the US not just on arrival in Canada.
