Okay! so i've started filling out my spouse visa forms for canada, me being the applicant and my hubby, the sponsor. And there's a section on co-signer. Now ive not seen anything about a co-signer till this point...are we meant to have one? If so what/who should they be?
Question 2, where do i pay online/how much am i meant to be paying >-<
Also the application webby says i need to do medical/police forms when requested, but im sure the form said that im meant to do them first and send them with my application, so my other question is, EXACTLY what do i send off with my first set of forms?? Is it everything to prove the relationship? or do i wait until that's requested, because obviously id like to minimise the amount of stuff going from the UK to canada as our postalk system isnt exactly reliable!

sorry about all the questions, this website really is a godsend!

1. There is no co-signer for spousal applications.
2. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/index.asp
3. Your proof of medical and police certificates are included with the application and sponsorship. Plus all your proofs of the relationship.
4. Unless you want everything coming back, send a complete application with all the attachments with the sponsorship to Mississauga.

I made all payments (sponsorship fee, application fee and right of permanent residence fee) all upfront from within Canada online, I even went through my medical exam in Canada. Then I applied from outside Canada, at the Rome visa office.

Of course, first I consulted with immigration if this is possible and I got a positive response. Nothing went wrong so far, they received all my payments and my medical exams. But still waiting....

Approved sponsorship: May 12th 2009
AOR and start processing the case: July 13th 2009

now they mailed us that I have to go through an interview, no fixed day yet.

Does that mean even though im applying as outside, i should be fine to use the online bit to pay? presuambly as long as i get the recipt of payment, and they got their money, it doesnt matter in the end o_o

I can just confirm that it worked in my case. I even called immigration and they encouraged me to pay everything upfront. We made the payment with a Canadian VISA online, printed out the receipt, included it in the application and sent everything to Mississauga. We got approved and they forwarded my file to Rome with no further complications.

You can call them too if you want to verify for yourself. Every case is different. Good Luck!

I am thinking of doing the same in Ottawa.
Was the Canadian medical less expensive than in Europe or did you do it that way because the Canadian Doctor was familiar with the immigration requirements?
Am I right in assuming that medicals are valid for 12 months?
Do I need to (or is it helpful to) also provide my medical records from the UK?

Who's more familiar with the immigration medical tests really depends on the DMP. You can find some confused DMPs in Canada too, so it's not necessary they'll know better than a DMP you'd find abroad.

Yes, the medical is only valid for 1 year, if the visa is not issued until then, it has to be redone.

I have heard some DMPs request that you bring your medical records with you though most don't and it shouldn't be necessary.

If you are doing your medical in Ottawa, I'd recommend:

Lorne Weiner
211-75 Albert St,
Ontario,
K1P 5E7
613-238-5963

Very professional and experienced and knew exactly what they were doing.

Stay away from Max della Zazzera if you are applying outland. They had no clue where to send the medical and ended up messing the whole thing up. They only seemed to be aware of how to process inland medicals.
