1. Toronto: The largest city in Canada and its financial center - the Canadian New-York. Relatively expensive unless you are willing to live in a cheaper neighborhood with a higher crime rate. Weather is pretty cold in winter with mild/hot summers. The area is not that scenic compare to BC and Alberta. Job market is bad, could be hard to get a specialist job. Other than that, it is a great place to live if you like the big city spirit.

2. Montreal: The second largest city in Canada - its French capital. Even though some people think that no one speaks English in Quebec, they do,but some people just do not want to. Crime rates are low, it's Canada for Christ's sake. As for me, I haven't seen any explicit racism there or may be I just don't care about it. The weather is pretty much the same as in Toronto - gets cold in winter, warm in summer. I would say that it is the city's architecture that is really beautiful.

3. Vancouver: The most beautiful city ever built. Its parks, mountains, lakes, architecture, everything makes you feel like on an everyday vacation. Friendly and laid back people, who would say "sorry" all the time. However, it is more expensive than both Toronto and Montreal as well as Vancouver's salaries are lower on average. Winter is mild and there is no snow in the city, but it rains for 3/4 of the whole year. There is no big city night life in here, so for some people Vancouver is extremely boring place.

4. Calgary: It's a good place to live if you drive a car. Gets real cold in winter with lots of snow. As for summers in Alberta, in general, they are pretty hot and sunny. The main thing why a lot of people are thinking to settle down in Alberta and especially Calgary or Edmonton is that you can make a better fortune there. Job market is expanding, salaries are relatively high as well as lower tax rates (GST 5%). Stunning nature scenes and a variety of outdoor activities would make it worth thinking to move in Alberta.

+1 FOR THIS....THANKS

According to Statcan your view on crimes in Montreal and Toronto are wrong. If anything Montreal have a higher crime rate then Toronto.

It is rather funny and amusing when people arriving to Canada from India or Pakistan start discussing crime rates like that is even a relevant factor.

Absolutely, its a relevant factor, they escaped crime infested countries to lead better lives here so I can totally see why it would be a relevant factor

We are not 'refugees'. We didn't 'escape' our countries. We merely migrated to Canada freely, because our governments allow it. I'm from Karachi, Pakistan myself. You could look at the humorous side for once! What I meant was, no matter how much Canadian crime one speaks of, it can't even reach half the level of crime we are accustomed to!

You cant deny the fact that people come here for better life. If that means "escape" or saying our "governments allow it", or "Mickey mouse invited me here". Thats okay, its really about how u choose to justify your actions. Yes, I do humor, some people like it and some dont. Such is life. Its not for the weak hearted

Probably Ottawa. It's the country's "Silicon Valley".

I hadn't seriously considered Ottawa as I was mainly focused on Toronto/Vancouver but after reading it makes sense to take it into consideration.

I was not aware that Ottawa is the Silicon Valley. I know engineers and “computer people” who are out of work. Nortel is long gone …… However, I am pleased to hear that things are picking up in Ottawa.
Best of luck!

I've never heard of Ottawa being the Silicone valley of Canada. Its known for good food so if you are looking for resturant jobs than its the place to be

cold or very cold should not be even on the list. Canada is a cold country.Period!
