Ok I have seen RCMP requests in the past but I'm not sure if they required finger prints etc. Just comply with the request. I think it atleast shows that they are working on your file. That is a lot from Montreal.

Even after receiving the passport request letter, my account status for Background check changed to we are processing.... which is IP2 yesterday. I see many others BG is changed. Hope this is some movement towards PPR.

Its normal to worry.....you are even allowed to check your account every second of the day if it claims you down. Rest assured that you have not gotten the PPR because your file has not be touched of late! Maybe you can just trick IRCC by sending CSE asking about something a little cogent......maybe this your travel or anything. That might make them look at your file.........It works!
About my landing.......No update yet! Am just waiting to for IRCC to email me for an interview. If am not contacted by end of the week, I will reach out to them. Thanks for asking!
I agree that you should raise a CSE. Someone on the group raised a CSE three days ago and he got IP2 yesterday. Since you have hit the six month mark, you have the authority to ask about your application
Confirm VO is still Montreal.. and then ask status. Let's see if you get any new information.
