Alright so, I finally got all the money for the forums and am still currently working on the forums and the evidence for the forums. This really has been a hectic ride. I was wondering what would happen if they refuse my application. Will they keep all of my 1040 dollars or will I be refunded? It took me 6 months just to gather all the money.

I do not think you would be entitled to a refund / partial refund if they refuse your application. Once they start processing it, the fee is no longer refundable.

Source: cic website help centre, applying general section - I tried to post the link, but I am not allowed.

we were advised to only send sponsorship paperwork and fees first. Once those are aproved, then move onto the next step and fees.

Sponsorship paper work and Fees?? I thought you had to send all the paper work together???? I dont mind spending the $75 and the $450?? ($490??) For the processing. I just don't want to really separate my paper work in case something gets lost.

You need to send all the forms together. But you don't have to pay everything up front.

However it is recommend that you do pay everything up front (if you can afford it) because it is usually faster. In the past, not paying everything up front has cause a delay of a month or more.

Agreed. If you only send the sponsor's half of the paperwork, you should expect to eventually have your entire application returned to you as incomplete.

Sponsor and applicant forms all need to be submitted together in 1 package to CPC-Mississauga.

$75 sponsor application fee is non-refundable.

If sponsor is refused at stage 1, then as long as you didn't check "proceed with application", the process would stop and the $475 applicant fee and $490 RPRF would be refunded.

If applicant is refused during stage 2 processing, then only the $490 RPRF is refunded.

RPRF payment can always be delayed until CIC actually requests it near the end of the process, but it's recommended to pay up-front so there are no delays.

I never understood this.

How can the application proceed if the sponsor is refused at stage 1.
I didn't check "proceed with application" but the other option to refund if SA was refused. But if I had done the other option, how does the process go ahead?

The process does go ahead. but obviously the sponsor refusal is a major red flag and the application will take forever to get process and find its way in front of a judge where I suppose you can try to justify why the application should be accepted despite sponsor approval failure.

Basically you should never select "proceed with application" unless you have absolutely no other choice and want to take your chances to appeal in front of a judge despite the miniscule chance of success

We sent all paperwork, but only fees for the sponsorship, and also $200 to reinstate my husbands status so he would not have to leave. I can't wait till it is all over.

App will proceed, but it's a guaranteed refusal at stage 2 due to sponsor being ineligible, and losing the $475 processing fee (or more if there are other dependents).

In a normal case if sponsor is refused the application should be completely stopped with all other fees being refunded, the sponsor should figure out what reason was for refusal and fix it, and submit a whole new application.

The ONLY time people should select to proceed, is when they are expecting a sponsor refusal but are planning to appeal on H&C grounds.

Im so confused. If through stage one (which is sponsorship stuff right???) you were refused how could you even proceed with application? It would be pointless right seeing as you wouldn't get permanent residency right? I plan on sending it all together but I don't want to lose all my money simply because I am denied. It took me so long to get the money that being told no and having to redue everything is upsetting.

Yeah that part confused me too, what's the point of checking the box if its going to be refused anyway when the sponsor is refused?

But yeah don't check that box unless you plan on appeal thru H&C.

why are you scared of them refusing you ? Have you checked to see if you qualify as a sponsor? If yes then I think you shouldn't be afraid , sorry it took you long to raise that. You can pay what's mandatory upfront and pay the rest when you are approved . Am sure that's possible too if it will make you feel ok .

You really don't have much choice if you want to apply .You don't have to pay the last part but if you want it to go to stage 2 then you need to pay the fee with your application . None of us want to be refused and i am sure no of us wants to do this over again .Before sending off your package make sure you photo copy every thing you can ,so you can refer back to it if necessary. Also just before sending make sure all recent documents are up todate .Its a chunk of money but well worth it to have your partner here with you in Canada.
