I am a little bit skeptic about a lawyer who says my Computer Science Bachelors(2006) with 11 years of work experience is not enough.
Here is a brief profile of mine:
* B.Tech ( Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science & Engineering from India obtained in 2006)
* 11 years of work experience as a software programmer.
* Currently working full time in Montreal. ( job has been validated by MIDI )
Here is what the lawyer says:
-------
if your university degree is assessed by the Quebec Immigration Department as equivalent to either:
- a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science; or
- a Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering
then you will receive 16 bonus points and reach 67 points, enough to qualify.
The ECA by wes.org you provided indicates that your Degree is equivalent to a Bachelor of Technology (computer science and engineering). The Quebec Immigration Department does not recognize the ECA obtained for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and will conduct their own assessment. My assumption is that you will receive the 16 points but I can’t guarantee it at 100%.
What I can propose is the following:
Option #1- We submit your Application and hope you will receive the 16 points (if not, your Application will be refused).
Option #2 - If you want to avoid any risk, we can present first a "Demande d’évaluation comparative des études effectuées hors Québec", which is the Quebec equivalent to the ECA, and then present your Application. If we are lucky, the evaluation will confirm that your Degree is equivalent to a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or to a Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering. I have to warn you that the Quebec Immigration Department sometimes conclude that a Degree is hybrid between two areas of training. Should that be the case, you would not receive the bonus points.
--------------
I would like to get your opinions whether this holds true ? It seems like the lawyer is leaving things to "luck" than my skills , also says the charge is 7000 CAD. Thank you for taking time to read this rather long post.
Looks like bunch of BS to me.cherti said:Hi All,

You are right. FYI , I have B.Tech in Computer Science and Engg and MS in Computer Science.cherti said:Thank you , it looks like most of the peeps here have NOC 2171 or 2172 and had no problem in getting points for AOT in CSQ ? or am I wrong.
These 2 items were discussed extensively in this thread around July/August. Go back few pages in this thread and you will find all the information. You will also find answers to several questions that you are yet to askI am in Quebec under Temporary Work Permit. Now I am planning to apply for CSQ, before that, I thought I will get my documents prepared. If anyone of you have gone thru the CSQ process successfully, please advice on the below.
I did my B.Tech in Computer Science & Eng from India (2006)
1. Which education certificates are to be submitted ?
a. 10th class
b. 12th class
c. B.Tech Degree certificate + University Transcripts (sealed envelope)
Does the above certificates need to be "certified true copies" ?
2. About the work experience letters.
a. Does the work experience letter need "hours worked" ? Many companies are unwilling to give hours worked !
Call MIDI and explain your situation. They will give you correct way to proceed on this.3. I have already created a Mon Projet account long back. Can I call MIDI and create a new ID because now I am under cap-exempt category.
