Dear Students
Mohawk College has passed a major milestone on the way to welcoming new international students to Hamilton.
The Government of Ontario has provided approval of the Mohawk College COVID-19 Readiness Plan. We have been given assurance by the Government of Canada that Mohawk College will soon be included on the official Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) list, as they clear through all submissions. Updates will be posted on the
IRCC website in the next few weeks.
While we have been approved, you are not able to travel until formal information has been communicated by the IRCC and Mohawk College. IRCC has indicated that new students arriving for the January 2021 semester should not travel more than 4 weeks before the start of classes.
Once you are allowed to travel you may do so if you have a full study visa and are taking either a virtual or hybrid delivery program.
It is important that you complete your Applicant Checklist and associated deadlines to move forward with your registration for January 2021. Without doing so, you will not receive important information on next steps and how you can travel. Please refer to your Letter of Acceptance for important deadlines and next steps.
Over the coming days and weeks we will be sharing more information about new guidelines and requirements for travel, and quarantine expectations upon arrival in Canada.
In the meantime we have highlighted some of the most important information to get you started:
- All students are required to download the Mohawk College iCent app and utilize the COVID-Safe supports. Specific instructions can be found on the
Considering Mohawk website.
- All students and co-arriving family members must:
- Inform Mohawk College of their travel and quarantine plans through the Mohawk College app utilizing COVID-safe
- Plans must be approved by Mohawk College prior to travel
- Quarantine and self-isolate for a period of 14 days upon arrival in Canada
- Take a COVID-19 test before the end of their 14 day quarantine period
