Hi People,

I am in midway of getting my PR for Prince Edward done. Have completed my medicals and waiting for passport Stamping. I am coming with my husband and we both plan to Settle in Canada.

Firstly, I wanted to know, how are the opportunities in Prince Edward Island , I haven't heard very good reviews about the place?
Is it mandatory to spend 2 years in the same Island.
As i have read through posts, one can take a risk of moving out after staying there for few time (6-7 months) , in case one doesn't find a job over there or any other xyz reason.

Lastly, is there a way to upgrade my province or change it and apply to any other PNP. Please, let me know if there is any alternative.

The fact that I am too happy to be in Canada as a PR holder fades when i think of my PNP for PE. I really want to change it or do something about it.

Please, help me.

There are many things saying about moving to a different province. Some people say you will have issues with your citizenship. In reality, no one really knows. However, a friend of mine asked SINP about it and they said this:

"The SINP reserves the right to follow up if an applicant has misrepresented their intent."

Legally, you are supposed to settle in the province that nominated you. However, legally, as a PR, you are free to live, work, and study anywhere in Canada. As such, finding loop holes can be easy so do this:

AFTER you are living in the province that nominated you

- Apply for n number of jobs IN YOUR PROVINCE. Say 2, 5, or 10 jobs.
- Wait m number of days for an answer. Say 2, 5, or 10 days or weeks.
After this, you have 2 possibilities
a) you get a job making j dollars a year in your province. Say $20,000, $50,000, or $10,000. You repeat the process until you reach the desire salary in the desire time. If you are unable to get them, you try another province. This shows your desire to settle in the province that nominated you but the lack of opportunity pushed you away from the province and not the misrepresentation.
b) if you don't get a job at all, it's easier to move out of the province as you have no chance to settle because you have no job.

The key here is the legal aspect and the time you do things. Your intention has to be to settle in the province that nominated you. If you start looking for a job outside the province or if you start making tights to other provinces BEFORE you TRY to settle in your designated province, then that can be taken as misrepresentation.

If you are an inland applicant and you've been living there for a while then AFTER you get PR you start looking and get a better paying job or a job that gives you a better career opportunity outside the province (job you couldn't find while living in your province), then it should be fine because your intention at the moment were to settle in the province that nominated you. If you do this BEFORE you get PR, then this can be open to misrepresentation.

So in other words, it's all about the time you do things what can determine whether or not it's misrepresentation.

This is the legal aspect. However, I have yet to see someone get in trouble for moving out of the province after getting PR.

I hope this helps.

PS Do not, under ANY circumstance, try to get another nomination. This can get your current nomination cancelled as this proves that you won't be settling in your province and applying in another province doesn't guarantee to get a nomination from that province just because you had one from a different province.
