Mistake in IMM 0008 urgent please seniors

Hello all seniors in this forum,
I made an unintentional mistake in my spouse's application. under question 9 part 3 (sought refugee status ...immigration...), I ticked No instead of yes this was complete oversight for the phrase (or any other country). I did this mistake in the first application which was sent more than 3 years ago and unfortunately while updating my documents I just copied the first page since infromation is still the same.To my surprise I discovered this mistake while I was looking at something else in my application. I am the principal applicant. Please help me what to do? I sent the update of documents more than 3 months ago. How do I deal with this problem and do you think it would affect my application? N.B: The first trial of immigration to my spouse was more than 20 years ago.

Being 3 yrs already into your case, it means [probably] u have passed that 'previous application' scrutiny stage. Else, by now the VO would have raised a red flag & asked for your answer/s. Also, the rejection being over 20 yrs back might not have a database file.

So, it shouldn't be a cause to worry now. But one never knows... A wise thing would be to 'disclose' it now. Write a suave letter to the CHC explaining your 'oversight' and ask for his views. This is to show your decency & 'non'-misrepresantation. And that'd definitely put u in good books.

However, it's your call... as per me, u have sailed thru this issue already. Use your own judgement whether to inform at this stage or not.

I have a representative (lawyer). would it be better to inform my representative, send him the letter including this mistake and making him check this letter in case he recommends any special format or the like and then let him send the letter to CHC? What do you think?

Yes, keeping the agent in loop is a better idea. But don't rely on him/her too much, probably s/he'll not add anything at all. And also, there is no 'special format' for such cover letters. Nonetheless, send it thru them, if that makes u comfortable.
