Hello All,

Yesterday I received a request to supply information regarding my activities for a specific duration of time from CIC. I thought this was strange as it was a period of time for which I had given information as part of my personal history.

When I looked into the personal history I submitted, In effect two entries had merged together - so it now reads I was uenmployed in Mexico for a year! No wonder they want clarification!

Now, this could be a human error on my behalf, but I scrutinized my submission multiple times and requested two individuals review my personal history file. I am 99% sure that this is an error that has occured during transmission.

My questions to the forum are:

1.)Have there been any other incidents where a personal history has been ameded and or/deleted during transmission?
2.) Now that I have an opportunity to explain myself, should I explain that I believe this is an error in submission, or just provide the correct information and apologise for the error?
3.) Am I in danger of my application being refused because erroneous information was supplied?

Many Thanks,
EST123

No comments (due to lack of personal experience)
2.) Now that I have an opportunity to explain myself, should I explain that I believe this is an error in submission, or just provide the correct information and apologise for the error?
Just say, you dont know how this happened as you had submitted the correct way, but nevertheless explain the correct sequence of events in LoE. I think that should suffice, since they have asked you for correction/explanation.
3.) Am I in danger of my application being refused because erroneous information was supplied?
There is no such danger. Its all your speculation. If there was they wouldn't have asked you for clarification.

Many Thanks,

It could be a system error but it will be hard to prove to the officer unless you have a snapshots of pages while submission. May be they are already aware of this bug. Do you have snapshots of pages? If yes, you can politely explain it to the officer that it was infact a system error and if not, just correct the information in schedule A and again politely request the officer that you overlooked this information. Few kind words will go long way. After all we are all humans and we do make mistakes. I hope everything goes fine with your application.

I second CanadaWeCome's take. I have no personal experience with the issue but as a U.S. lawyer who's very familiar with the USCIS, I would think CIC will be fine with a brief letter and supporting documents verifying your statement. I don't see how you can be penalized for such a minor issue. The mere fact that CIC is asking for information speaks volumes. Just provide the information and you should be fine (assuming everything is as you say and you weren't doing some shady stuff in Mexico for a year :D) Good luck and godspeed (coming from an atheist).

Thanks for the suggestions, they are very helpful.

I have written a letter explaining the error and stated that I am unsure how this happened but thanks for letting me explain msyelf. In addition I have corrected the error and put down what I was actually doing.

I literally could not believe that I/The system suggested that I had been unemployed in Mexico for a year - about the worst thing I could say!! I'm just grateful they let me explain myself.
