Missing background information

Good evening everyone,

I am sponsored my husband and I was approved as a sponsor. Right now I realized that doing my husband's document I might miss some background information in Schedule A. I did not mention that he was a member of a local trade union and a associated member of a communist party for a few years. It was in 1986-1991 - more than 25 years ago. We lost all his membership ID.

What you can advise me?

Should I add this information?

If yes, should I send the entire form IMM5669E_Shedule A-Background

or just attach a point #9 Membership or association with organisations with correction?

What does a procedure of sending additional document look like?

i don't think you need to worry, especially since it was over 25 years ago. don't they only ask for 10 years back? if you did that, then you are fine. if they ask for him to provide information since age 18, then you can give them that info when they ask for it. sending in a new form is only going to make them more suspicious in my opinion or confuse the visa officer which will cause delays in processing.

trust me when i say, looking at your application trying to find "red flags" or issues is not going to help get you through this process. remember, things you assume are "red flags" or issues are not necessarily considered red flags or issues by cic. if they want to know his membership information from the 1980s, then they will ask for it. your application will not automatically be rejected because you neglected to put information from over 25 years ago. if they suspect you haven't provided accurate information, they will ask for it again or schedule an interview. put the application away, and just wait to hear from cic.

If I recall correctly, the section on that form that asks about memberships doesn't mention anything about `within the last 10 years'. I believe it simply said to list organizations that you have been previously associated with or were/are a member of (or similar language).

Personally, I went waaaaaay back (well beyond 10 years).

CIC did not mention a time frame.

Ask about "ANY political, social, youth organization..."

That is why I am worrying.

I know that in US when you apply for citizenship they ask about being a member of communist party 10 years before applying. But what about Canada?

In our case it was in former USSR, he was only associated member of a comunist party for a couple of years (ended in 1991).

That's exactly why I even included an organization from my childhood!

Personally, I'd be inclined to send them an updated form with this information.

An updated new form as you sent the application few months ago and the personal history and address must be updated as well. Make sure you send an explanation letter with his client id and file number.

Lol...The he is a she (I believe), but you now have two opposite answers to now consider!

If you dont inform CIC and they find out on their own (background check) he will be denied by misrepresentation, banned from Canada for 2 years, better be pro-active to avoid further problems .
