Hi! everyone,
I am freaking out! Today (May 23rd, 2014) I happened to check my application status online and found out that I was scheduled to write a test on last April 2nd, 2014, almost 2 months ago!!! I never received any letters from CIC, so I do not know this schedule. Unfortunately, I haven't checked my status online for a while because I am tired to see" in process" for years. My current address has been on my file,so it is unlikely that it would have been sent to the wrong place. My mail box is secured, only me can open it and I check my mail box everyday.

I called the call center and the agent suggested me to write a letter explaining why I missed the appointment and send some utility bills to proof my address.
I have already sent the letter this morning and am feeling so nervous. Does anyone has the same experience? Do you think of any problems for rescheduling in my case?

My family member has just received a notification letter to write a test next month and it said that this schedule is the only chance if miss it and do not contact with the office within 60 days and provide good reasons, they will close the file!!!What would have happened if I found out after 60 days? It is not my fault, I did not receive a letter... a letter that I have been waiting for years. Why don't they sent out such an important letter in any better way than a regular mail?

Welcome to my world.
I experience the same thing you are describing. I also sent my letter and I am still waiting for Cics response. i hope everything goes well although at the call centre they said that since my application is a non-routine one (aside I had to send them an RQ), it can take one more year which "generally does not happens" (at least that is what the CIC officer said over the phone).
It seems you are still within the window of the 2 months and even if you were not any more within it, apparently, Cic sends you a final notice asking you to send this letter. I never receive either one.
Is difficult to say how long one should have to wait after missing an exam, I have heard about some people that have their tests reschedule the same month and I also have heard about people getting more angry due to the long waits and applying for a thing called Mandamus. (not sure what exactly it is but is something related with the supreme court).
By the way in which area of the country are you located??? I am in British Columbia. The reason of my question i because I heard there were some problems with Canada post at the beginning of the year but not sure if this is being a only courier related or something else....
Hope you get a response soon!!

Thank you Springtime and Alyen for your responses!

I have been living in Vancouver, BC at all time since 2008. I have checked my mail box everyday. My case is a non-routine one and I have submitted the RQ response since January 2013. I have been waiting for a letter scheduling the test date and now I missed it because of the lost mail!!! It is not our fault that we did not receive the letter so that we missed the appointment. I am frustrated since it may delay the process until..who knows? ..another 8 months?

Good luck to all, please update about your case.

Friend of mine missed his test because they sent the invitation to the wrong address. So called CIC and informed him. I think he was called two months after they receive his letter indicating that it was not his fault.

I missed my test on Dec. 16, 2013 and was rescheduled last May 6, 2014. I'm from Surrey, no RQ. I missed it coz i went for a vacation and settle some issues back home.

In test notice, they have mentioned that in case you cannot attend the test and didn't hear from you with an acceptable reason within 60 days, they will close the file and refund your citizenship fee. So, i was just hoping that I wont receive the refund when I sent my letter of explanation. After more or less 2 months I called CIC and was informed I will be rescheduled. After another 2 mos, i was told i was scheduled for retest. Now, i'm waiting for my oath.

I hope you will get yours, too. You just have to wait patiently. Call CIC (before your 60th day from exam date) to make sure they received your letter. Then call again after a month or so for the status. From there, you wil get a hint if they have accepted your reason and will get a test notice soon.

Thank you Okoy and Jeleni! It is a good idea to call the CIC centre to make sure that they receive my letter of explanation, thanks!

You might to send it by registered mail so that at least you would have proof that they did receive your letter.

Also, always get and write down the agent's name, the time and date of the call. You can also ask for their 4 digit agent number.

Hi Folks, I'm in the same boat as u. I missed the test in January2014 due to relocation i received the mail late and i didn't check online during that period. I send email to cic in Feb and send 3 letters to st clair office, Toronto 1 every month till now. So far they denied receiving any letter when i called call centre but after the third letter they did admit they have received 1 letter(BTW all letters were registered mail). I came across 2 people on the forum who missed after me and already took the test couple of months back and i am waiting ......god knows till when? Is there any other way to wake the officers up so they can reschedule. Any help will be appreciated

so how is it going? My family have the same situation like you did. Now its Christmas day and I called CIC, they say the office is closed. We don't even how to contact local office since we still not receiving any mail, and the website didn't mention how to contact them.

Hi Cathjon,
Sorry for my delay response as I seldom visit this forum. I hope you got the answer by now and have already contacted your family's local office (where the file was transferred to).
For me, I called to the call center, faxed and mailed my letter and all the supporting documents to my local office (Vancouver). I called the call center a week after my submission to follow up with it and they confirmed of receiving my letter (it showed on my file).

It took 3 months after my letter submission for taking a test and took ridiculously 8 months after the test date to receive the oath....long..long waiting time.

Hope everything is going well with your family case.
