Missed oath ceremony

I made a huge mistake. I did not update my address with CIC after moving.
As a result I missed the letter and the oath ceremony.
Now I need to send them a letter with explanation for a new oath date. If I tell them
the truth do you guys think they would accept it?

It is always better to tell the truth. Please give a reason to them on why you forgot to update your address.

Yeah i think better would be to send them explanation why couldn't u attend ? and where was ur oath ceremony ?

I did miss mine one for Dec in Ottawa as i was out of country and updated them that i am away so waiting for the new date but have no idea when would be the turn again.

It was Mississauga. I was afraid if they would accept this as a valid reason. But I think it is better to tell them truth.

Well just tell truth and wait for what the CO says as this is bit lame excuse and irresponsible on you part you should also check the online status too but it happened now but hopefully CO is nice and take this as valid reason

Yes, they sent me an invite for another day. I have become a citizen now.

How long did it take CIC to reschedule your oath? I missed mine because I received the oath invite a week after the scheduled date. No updates to ECAS either. Sent them an explanation letter on 7 December. Have not heard anything since.

Just received my oath invite for the rescheduled oath on 2 March. ECAS not updated. Missed my first oath as I received the invite a week after the scheduled oath day.

OMG it took 3 mnths for them to reschedule! I had same case and i sent letter end of jan. Did u call CIC during this time?

I did call the CIC call center. But they were not of any help other than confirm that CIC had received my explanation letter and I have to wait my turn for the rescheduled oath.
