Today around after noon I got a call from IRCC (+1 (613) 995-6486) and I missed it. They did not leave a voicemail or anything. My AOR date is Jan 1 2017 and there is no change in my application from the initial status.

What do I do now? How do I contact them?

I tried calling back on the number....But there was no option where I could respond back.

Number doesn't look legitimate as per Google search http://findwhocallsyou.com/6139956486

I may be wrong too - just saying!

Interesting!

The same number is posted as a fake in web site (posted above) with lot of complaints.

Possibly, some hack is going on.

Better to call IRCC and inform them about this.

I have send an email to cpc-ctd-ottawa@cic.gc.ca.....Is there are 24\7 helpline where I can call?

I would suggest you keep a voicemail active in this situation in case you miss a call. Keep trying the number and wait for them to reply to your email. Once you hear from them, please share the details as to why they called so that it can help everyone on the forum.

Phone (number) masking is very commonly used for scams. It is highly unlikely that CIC will call you as they prefer sending emails. Be cautious about these kind of calls.

I highly doubt this was a call from IRCC. They generally communicate through emails.

Just be careful of the caller. Don't pay any money or give out login details, passwords or sensitive information.

Thanks guys!! I did not do anything! I hope it was not IRCC!!

Have there been any developments in your process since you missed that call?

Guys,

That is a 100% fake call. Please never respond. IRCC clearly said on its ITA letter, they will only contact through MYCIC account and email.

Thanks

Interesting, so the scammer probably get the phone numbers openly posted in this forum (people they know are temporary residents) and use them to try to scam people. The sad part is that some people still transfer them money via Western Union or whatnot.

Hello nidakh, i’m now in the same situation as yours as I missed the call from my visa office this morning. Could you please let me know what happened to your application after that? Your post has been 1 year ago so I guess now you already got your PR. Could you please share your experience? I’m really worried now but there are not many people facing this problem for me to consult.

I also had missed calls from my local VO then. I called back and was told by the receptionist/ frontdesk officer to wait for the agent to call again. If IRCC or the VO would really need to talk to the applicant, they’d surely call again. True enough, I got another call after their lunch break (VO’s local time). Perhaps, if they can’t reach you via phone, they’d communicate through email or CIC account.
