I have come to Canada to stay with my bf who is a citizen. I am from the US. My border crossing stamp will have me out of here april 1st so i am applying to stay in the country on the visitors visa. One of the questions is have you ever been convicted of a crime in any country. 22 years ago ( I am now 45) a bunch of friends and I got in trouble stealing flip flops at kmart. We all got charged with misdemeanors and were given 3 months probation ,but it is on my "record" Is this something that i should disclose in that section of my application? or has been so long that it doesn't matter? And could it possibly keep me from getting my visa?

thanks!

Disclose it in the application. It was well over 10 years ago so you'll be deemed rehabiltated. Not telling them would cause more of a problem if it was discovered.

I agree with kelkel.
