In applying for PRTD, you have to submit a paper explaining why you have been outside of Canada all this time. You can use this paper to plead your case as you had to follow your parents (being removed as a minor) and now that you are almost 18, you want to go back to live & study there.
I would suggest applying for PRTD as it will make renewing your PR (once you are in Canada) easier.

Good Luck

No way... I'm in the exact same situation but i haven't started my first semester yet and was given a study permit at the Montreal Trudeau Airport when I landed. I hope to also regain my PR status as it would save me tens of thousands of dollars.
I was in the same situation but was given a Study Permit! Now I am trying to apply for my new PR and the old one is showing up on their system after all these years.

I left Canada in 2012 and PR card expired in 2013 with my family spouse and elder son. Now he is 16 years old and want to go back to Canada fro study after 12 STD.
What is the process we have to follow? We are in India.

You need to figure out whether your family lost their PR status when you all applied to renew your PR cards in 2012 without meeting your RO. You potentially have already lost your status.

If you are receiving child tax benefits you have bigger issues. You have been receiving benefits you weren’t entitled to for a very long period of time and will be required to pay back what I can only imagine is over 10k at this moment. You need to contact CRA immediately to stop CCB payments because you are going to be required to pay back all the money you have received since leaving Canada. If you stop payment now it will limit how much you will need to pay back. This is extremely worrying to see how incompetent CRA is. None of your family should be receiving any sort of payments from the Canada. U fortunately this doesn’t actually mean that you still have PR status. You need to co tact IRCCto see what happened to your PR card renewal applications.

It's shocking that you keep receiving CCB for 10 years while none of your family lived in Canada.

But agree that getting CCB has nothing to do with your PR card renewal process or your PR being revoked or not. I think CRA failed to confirm with your current tax residency and physical location of your child.

Have you been filing tax returns in Canada? I can’t figure out how you are getting CCB after being gone for so long and without filing tax returns? Has your whole family been receiving payments from the Canadian government?
Yes I filed Income tax return and showing international income.

Are you indicating that you live in Canada? You were required to contact CRA to inform them that you Had left Canada and they would determine if you were a resident or non-resident for tax purposes. This is a big mess. You need to contact CRA asap.
