Hi,

I'm eligible to apply for Citizenship now, and I have a problem with my home country passport.

My new passport has a minor error in given names. All my old passport and other immigration documents match.
In the new passport one name mentioned as "RanathungA" instead of "RanathungE".

I can apply for the name change but will take 4-6 weeks.

Any advice on this will be helpful.

Thanks

haa...haha what do you mean by minor spelling mistake in name? That passport is your principal document and you have a problem there ! Hopefully you are not waiting for someone from the forum to respond but already initiated the process of name correction on your passport. It's a standing instruction that whenever you receive passport check all personal details and report immediately if something is inappropriate.
I had a "y" missing on my surname on my graduation certificate which was issued decades back. When I applied for transcripts the University noticed that (unfortunately it never caught my eyes for so many years, neither of any of the visa officials for all countries I got my visa processed so far) and made me go through the whole process of getting my Graduation certificate re-issued. It cost me time, money and my aged parent running around. But I was saved of bigger consequences. What if the CIC officials discovered that later?
Pls get your passport corrected and then happily submit your application without any worries for future. Good Luck !

Thanks
