so, i am an american and my common law partner and our 9 year old daughter are both canadian citizens. i have my application packet almost completely done. however, the source of income and supporting documentation are giving me anxiety. we started our own business in mexico (where we met, and i moved to be with him) over 10 years ago and it has supported us ever since. mexico doesn't do taxes like the US and canada and while we have paid them (along with all business licenses etc.) every month (again, thats how they do it for small business down here) they don't provide a receipt or set of copies after filing (like i would get in the US each year). our business is search-able to confirm it's existence and we have enough in our savings to support us for at least 4 months, we also have a contractual savings program (an monthly auto deduction from our bank account) that that we started (specifically for this reason) 4.5 years ago that is going to come to term right before we want to move that will give us an additional 3 months of financial resources should it be necessary. i can provide copies of both of those savings resources but no tax returns. our business account goes up and down with each month because it is used solely for business expenses so there is no real liquid to be relied on in that account. we will be traveling to canada in may and plan on opening a joint bank account with funds that are already there in canada, but cant do so prior to that because we have to be there in person. so, thats 2 sources of cash we can provide immediately and 1 additional one in may - but no income proof or tax records (although im still looking into both of these things down here). we both plan on getting jobs as soon as possible after arriving but cant search for or accept any job offers until we know when we will be able to move. we don't have to meet the minimum income requirement, correct? what else might we be able to provide that would be sufficient for approval? help (please)!
5.33. Exception to minimum necessary income requirement
The ability to meet the minimum income requirement is mandatory, unless the sponsor is sponsoring a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or a dependent child where the child has no dependent children of their own. This exception also applies to persons under the age of 18 whom the sponsor intends to adopt in Canada."
