Just spent the last 2 hours reading and my head hurts. lol
I know that they have stopped fsw applications till next year.
My brother in-law just found out they are making cuts and wants to see what the chances of moving to Canada are.
Hes in the Military, Sergeant for 12 years with many qualifications in artillery and other areas (sorry i dont know as when he talks army my brain shuts off).
Anybody have any idea on his options or an area we can start looking at?
I've looked at Canadian armed forces but it says you have to be a citizen so that a no go.
I would be thankful for any help that can be giveen.
Thank you

You're right - the Canadian Armed forces isn't an option since he's not a citizen.

Canada doesn't have a very large military and therefore doesn't have a very large military industry (unlike the US). That's probably why you're not seeing too many responses here.

You also haven't really provided any details about what your brother-in-law is trained to do. (e.g. What do you mean by artillery? What does he do with artillery? Just shoot it or other things?) If he could get a job offer in Canada that would certainly significantly increase his chances of immigrating. Other than that - I'm not sure there's any help we can provide without further and detailed information.

Thank you for the reply i wanted to see if i got a reply before putting more details on.
He has a BA in life coaching and a BA in managment and leadership.
The information he gave me is, 12yrs sergeant/ artillery/ AS90/ L118 Detachment commander and instructor /map readers instructor/ CBRN instructor / GS instructor / defence instruction teacher /drill instructor.
This means nothing to me but he said its good.
I have said to him to contact the canadian forces and see if he gets a reply but other then that see about fsw when they restart in May.

I hate to say it - but I wouldn't bother contacting the Canadian Armed Forces. They won't be interested in him until he's a citizen. After your brother in law becomes a PR (assuming he applies and is accepted), best case scenario he'll have citizenship in about 5 years (3 years residency requirement + 2 years processing time). So he still has quite a wait ahead of him.

I'd research other possible employers. Unfortunately I have no idea who those other employers might be. Perhaps security companies?
