For cra purpose i'm 100% sure confirmed by military admin clerk and experience of some colleque. For cic and immigration I didn't find clear reference except one stating that a common law can go outside the country for work purpose for short period but it's not specify what it is a "short period".

For sure calling cic would be a good idea also to get peace of mind ;)
CRA has very different definitions of common-law than CIC. For example, if a couple living apart has a child and then moves in together, they are immediately common-law for CRA.

I seriously doubt the call centre would be helpful in such a situation. They are there only to answer the most basic of questions and even those they mange to get wrong a lot of the time.

For sure I am going to call them, but even then the call centres are notorious for giving out incorrect information - whatever happens it will always come down to the cic officers dealing with our file - but as Shineon39 has stated - its physically impossible for us to get 12 months continuous living together when he is in the army as every single year he is going to be on exercises, or tours - this year he's been away for 5 weeks on training so far, before we moved in was the same - he got sent away on exercises, back for a few days then sent to the fires for weeks....it all adds up to time away, so i truly don't understand how CIC can penalise us for that because the only other option would be for him to leave the army which is ridiculous and he absolutely doesnt want to do that at all nor would i ever ask him too.
