hi,
Me and my wife are planning to immgrate to canada but we also did consider australia. i am software engineer with three years experience and my wife is an architect (2 years experience) with an MBA degree and currently now in banking as a credit officer. Where will we most likely get good job opportunities and have a good life? Where are we most likely to get jobs in our own fields?

Thanks in adv

So one is hot coffee and otherone is cold coffee. Liking depend on individual taste. Make your own choise. I liked cold one so I am here. :D

You can only migrate under skilled worker if you have Arranged Employment Offer, your job'S NOC -0213 is no longer under the skilled workers occupation list. It changed last month. It applies to your wife also, she falls under NOC 0111.

My wife has a bachelor's degree in architecture and recently see has switched profession to management. Her previous occupation meets the criteria of NOC skills 2151 Architects. Isn't she eligible? Doesn't the previous occupation with more than one years experience count. We are in full preparation to applying for Canada this month.

Thanks in advance.

Hi nitroxn,

Is there any years of practice experience for ur wife as architect?!
If there is not, I am afraid that won't help to apply according to this list.

Well, I love Canada..so I'll stand the weather being hello hot or freezing cold! :)
It's really up to more important other things. The Canadian systems are really muuuuuch better than the Australian. The education, the health, the public works, even politics & internal affairs..seem to be way better.

Anyways, this is only my opinion.. it's really up to u..just think of it reasonably.

Good luck.

The only requirement for the job that is under the FSW scheme is that he or she needs to have at least 1 yr of experience in the past 10 yrs in that chosen profession under FSW. So if yr wife has the required job desciption (as an architect) under the NOC required under FSW NOCs then she will qualify to apply under the FSW scheme. Also be reminded that she would need to take ILETS regardless of where her qualification is from and this is required for all new FSW applicants as of 26 June 2010.

That's exactly what I meant.
Without at least one year of experience, the qualification for a position in the list does not count.

In Australia now PR is bit difficult till 2012. Even the people who have applied 2 years before are still getting their cases pending in embassy. Moreover australian govt have changed its rules regarding immigration and there are number of cases of violence over there in recent times. But you have good chances to get PR in canada................so my suggestion is you should think about canada

goingcanada,

You are right, there has been some modifications to the Australian immigrations rules.

You'll have to assess your qualifications from registered oraganizations/syndicates in Australia. This procedure itself is really hectic & time/resources demanding.

As far as I know, there's a good chance if u hire a lawyer..but it woulc cost a lot as well.

For me, Australia is not an option..my only interest in Canada.

O' Canada! :)

Well,
if its applying for australia then i am a better candidate as i have nearly four years of experience and have good ielts. however, since the new NOC list included Architect as a profession we decided for Canada. Mostly Canada is more advantageous to immigrate over Australia because of its vicinity near the world's largest economic power USA. I have heard that once you have canadian citizenship, you can get work permit to work in USA.

Thanks for all the suggestions... keep them coming.
