So here is my situation.

I applied for citizenship back in Ontario and have moved to Vancouver about 2 weeks ago.
I don't have a permanent address in Vancouver yet so I couldn't do an address change. I have been checking up on my status online and no indication that I was up to write the test.
I had my mailing address changed to a family friend's in Vancouver just so that I can receive important documents just in case.
They forgot to let me know that I received a letter from CIC for a week and I finally got it today.
Turns out I am scheduled to write the test tomorrow in Ontario...
I don't know what to do. With such short notice and 3 hour difference I tried calling them but offices were already closed.
My family is even thinking of flying me out tonight just to write the test. What advice do you guys have for my situation?
Should I make the test at all costs or call in when they open asap and have them reschedule.
Not to mention, I haven't even started studying for the test even just yet.

If your family granting that opportunity then just do it. Hard to get another test date.

I double checked my application status and still no mention of the test.
Could I use this as a valid excuse for missing the test?

This is what I have in my application status right now: In Process

We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on September 5, 2014.

We started processing your application on December 15, 2014.

Your file was transferred to the Kitchener office on December 18, 2014. The Kitchener office will contact you.

I mean I really don't want to fish out $500 just out of nowhere to fly out in the next 2 hours if possible, not to mention that I'm not exactly prepared for the test at all....
If that's the best choice that most people think than I just might have to take that opportunity though.
Thanks for the advice.

Then again you weren't studying and that's not their fault. Poor excuse to tell them that you did not see any update. Its the the address that counts.

Might as well reschedule since you weren't studying but you will need to find a good excuse and they may say you need to write a letter explaining why. That letter must be convincing to them.

Ya... I really wish I even had 1 day of notice before I found this out so I could call in and see what was up.
I heard people do get an update in their application status once they are called in to write the test though am I correct? Or is the letter in the mail the only thing that let's you know of the test date?
What's the timeframe on a reschedule usually?

Some local office do not update the ECAS so you cannot rely on ECAS for updates. Make sure when you get a reschedule date don't rely on ECAS you might not see it. You may rather call them to find out if you not seeing anything in the mail. You cannot go to the local office on test day without the letter. So its the letter that still stands. I heard it can take months for reschedule and with how the system is you sure don't want to wait long. Remember NEW system coming into play in few months.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
If I were you, I would go and give it my best shot. Plus, its better than postponing. If you fail, you get rescheduled automatically with no questions asked.

All the best.

Welp... last plane ticket got cut off when I tried to buy it. I'm boned...
Will have to try my chances with the reschedule I guess....
Well, sometimes when you call the airline ticketing dept they find seat, if you continue to try make sure its a airline that don't like to delay/or cancel flights. Yea choose what best suits you just be ready to have a strong reason why.

Thanks for your quick replies in my time of panic. I tried other airlines and tried calling and Air Canada only has business for $4k haha I don't have that kind of money atm.
Even $1170 from WestJet was a last ditch attempt even if I don't have the funds but that ship sailed minutes ago...
Ya I guess I'll call in 8am tomorrow morning and see what they have to say.
