Is Middle name part of Given names? Would it affect our application if I forgot to include my middle name in the application?

Yes, middle name is part of given names. I would just write it exactly as it is in your passport / travel document.

Would they return the application if the middle name was not indicated as part of the given names? Or is it okay?
Consistency is the most important thing. As already stated, if it's shown on your passport/travel documents, then you should include it. If it isn't shown on your passport/travel documents, then don't include it.

cannot change it now, just wondering if they would return the application or if it's okay as long as I have the surname and given names, just not he middle name

Just curious, why can't you change it now? You've asked a lot of questions on this forum about how to prepare the application recently, so it sounds like you haven't submitted it yet. All you have to do is reprint the forms that you edit and sign them again.

EDIT: Just looked it up and this is what I found (not from Canada government website though, it is from an immigration law website):
Applications that are incomplete will not be returned due to unavailable documents, but will be retained in the system and reviewed again in 90 days. Once an application is first received, it takes IRCC 3 months to open and review an application. Including the 90 additional days provided by IRCC to obtain the missing documents, individuals will have 6 months following the receipt of the application to provide the missing documents.

So actually this does not apply to your name not matching your passport. I don't know about whether this would cause your application to be returned, but it may be a pain to correct later down the road if it is necessary.

Just to note that it's still your responsibility to check the forms over for accuracy.

You can fill out forms without myCIC account. I don't know how your arrangement with your representative is, but anyone can fill out the forms as long as you have a software compatible with .pdf
My husband and I have a lawyer as our representative, and our arrangement was that we filled out all the forms ourselves, validated them all ourselves, printed and signed them all and then gave them to the lawyer. (She had to sign on the Use of Representative form of course, but none of the others.) She organized them and sent them to IRCC for processing.

Also as stated by the user above, you should make sure all the information is accurate even if you do not fill out the forms. "Misrepresentation" is when inaccurate information is submitted to the government, whether directly by you or done on your behalf. Even if you did not fill out the forms, if you sign off on it, you are saying you approve it, and you will be the one to face the consequences if there are any. Innocent mistakes or misunderstandings can be explained certainly, but it can be a pain. Easier to avoid it in the first place.

https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/middle-names.92123/ and this thread mentions as if it's okay to use surname and given names
Looks like you found the answer to your own question. Then it is up to you whether you want to update your forms or not. But regardless, make sure you've fully checked all the forms over and made sure they are accurate. Despite having a representative, that responsibility does still fall on you.
