MI-3 & FSW2 applicants - Buffalo to Ottawa transferred cases- Connect here

Hi guys,

There was no thread to track the MI-3 cases who opted for Buffalo-Ottawa Visa Office. Please share your timeline here. For those who do not know about MI-3, its the time period who applied for PR after July 1st, 2011.

I filed my application in October, 2011. Got AOR in December, 2011 and RCMP Fingerprinting request in Feb, 2012 from Buffalo. Since then, I did not hear anything and my ecas shows RBVO. I asked my MP to request some information on the processing of my case and he said they did not even touch you file. Its waiting to be assigned to an officer

FSW With Job Offer (FSW2?)

Application received at Sydney CIO - November 23, 2011
Email from FSW CIO (PER I guess) - February 10, 2011

Status in e-cas has been "In Process" & "We have received your application on November 23, 2011" ever since January 2011.

I didn't receive and RVBO from Buffalo or anywhere else (my VO of choice was Buffalo) so I called CIC 2 weeks ago and they said it was transferred to Ottawa and told me to contact Ottawa.

I emailed Ottawa and they confirmed that it was transferred to their office. Here's the reply they sent me:

The file was transferred to this office following the closure of Buffalo. Your application is in process in Ottawa. No further action is required by you at this time.

Due to the high volume of correspondence received, we are unable to provide status update. The officer responsible for your file will contact you if any action is required from you. In the meantime, please ensure your contact information with us is up-to-date.

Ottawa is sleeping...I think not even a single person has got MR from ottawa who fall under MI-3. We have to wait and wait for any response from them. Meanwhile, if you get any important information regarding the processing, do share with us. Good luck to you..

I am FSW2 Apr 2010 applicant . My initial office was buffalo. In Feb-2013 below line was added to my application .


Your application was reviewed and we started processing on February XX, 2013.


In mid-May-2013 I received Medical Request with RPRF . I sent my medicals along with RPRF request few days ago to ottawa through post .

2 weeks ago I saw that in my ecas `buffalo` word was changed to something like $ciccic_office_id$.

We transferred your application to the $ciccic_office_id$ office on August XX, 2010. The $ciccic_office_id$ office may contact you.


Couple of days ago I received an automated email from cic like this .. They have given me a new file number . Are others also getting (got) this kind of email.

Also, One more thing . FSW2 applicants who are receiving medicals now [In 2013 ] are they generally done with background check ?
