Awesome news Mariana! So happy for you guys. I sure has been a long haul to get to this point. I have a question for you and mayber for Mitch5555 if he is still on here. Or anyone else that has received their COPR and passport and brought their spouse to Canada in the past couple of months.
Has anyone been told or applied for a travel exemption? We have been using a lawyer through this whole process. We have the passports back and the COPR and now my lawyer is saying that they are applying for a travel exemption. I have not yet asked what this is for as I wanted to ask this forum first.
My understanding with COVID is that our spouses are allowed to come to Canada once they have the COPR. Am I wrong in that?
Thanks,
Jeff
No, you don't need any other travel document. My husband had his COPR, passport plus our ARRIVECan info and Marriage Certificate but was only asked for COPR, PP, and ARRIVECan info.
His COPR arrived on Oct. 22nd just before noon and we flew out on Oct. 25th arrived in Vancouver, BC on Oct. 26th and are in quarantine until Nov 9th.
He did get detained by US Immigration for 3 hours for absolutely no reason because he has a valid US Visa for 10 years. They never asked one question just made him sit for 3 hours for nothing while they watched the baseball game and then the soccer game next. We missed our connecting flight and the one after that so had to rebook them. We are never going through the US again!!
Anyway, all will be good once we are done with quarantine and get on with our lives. Good luck to all of you still dealing with this lengthy process, it will end, honestly!!
