We just got confirmation from Jenny Kwan...the NDP immigration critic that our application is approved and they decided to waive the interview.
This is a perfect example of how important the notes are. We sent additional information and explanations after seeing the reasons for our interview and they waived the interview ask together. Someone once said in this thread do not send additional information because it makes your application longer. Well I just saved God knows how many months because I sent additional information.

When I asked for our notes they were almost wiped clean - we can't figure out why an interview is required, so we are a bit stuck. We have heard it is to verify the validity of our relationship - but honestly after knowing each other for 10 years and married for over 2 - with all the hundreds of pages of documentation we have already sent...what more could they want?

While it’s probably the most common reason for an interview, it’s not the only reason they may request one. In your case it seems a bit odd they would request one when you’ve been together that long, particularly because it sounds like you had plenty of evidence. Based on that I can’t see the genuine aspect of the marriage being an issue, but you never know.

What additional information did you end up sending to clarify the situation?

The officer had issues that the relationship wasn't genuine and that getting married 10 months into the relationship was to soon. Also, we applied for a TRV to Canada a few weeks after meeting and used the term friends because after two weeks we were still just friends. We just sent explanations for all this along with flight info for the 5 trips I've taken there since I applied and the trip info for my friends and family that have went since we initially applied.

With us we never would have known. We used the term friends in a TRV application and that was before we were dating so we never thought anything about it until we saw it in our notes. I don't get why they put it in some notes and not for others. We should all have the right to know why they are delaying our applications for several additional months.

So far all I know is my wife and kids have to go and get medicals done again as they expired March 2020. From what I see I don't think they are open to do they passport requests yet and something about not opening for this until September or October

Oh no! You couldn't make the argument to have the medicals extended due to COVID? That seems very unfair (and expensive).

I don't like it. It is costing me $910. But I planned to spend a few thousand dollars to travel and hotel for the interview and then this on top of it. I'm just going to consider myself lucky and do the medical. The medical exam is scheduled for Monday. If i complain then it will just delay my application further and I just want my wife and kids here.

I email them and inform them that its our fault that the medical expire and they extend it for my husband you should email them

I got an email saying they received special permission to waive my interview but specifically stated that the medical will have to be done again. I'm not going to push my luck but I appreciate the advice! After this incredible luck I am just going to do this knowing that my application is finished. In the email from Mexico they state this is it. After this, I just wait until they return to work to receive my passport request.
