I have not heard this.. however, for those of us waiting on a response from Mexico city this is not good news. This means more delays and wait time.
I have heard from 3 people I know, as well as i just checked the Havana Forum.....looks like it may be the truth. I really do hope that this does not hinder anyone's process. I actually hope this means more officers in mexico to process faster. If anyone hears anything more keep us all posted.

yes this is absolutely TRUE.. my husband is Cuban, our file has been in Havana.. so we are not exactly sure what this means for all of us, including the files that Mexico already has.

Well I wish us all the best of luck as well as a speedy process. I do hope that more officers were sent to cover the amount of files .

I think that they would have to send officers from the Cuba VO ? Or possibly more will be handled right here in Canada ? It will be interesting to see the outcome. I am 8 months in at Mexico VO and background hasn’t even started according to gc key

Same! I know that Mexico processes for a lot of countries, and I know that a lot of people are waiting, waiting and waiting for Visa's..

I am not sure yet what this news means for everyone.. but it's all quite disheartening..:(

One of the problems with the Havana VO, is that there are no officers!! Staff there has been reduced dramatically over the past year, and my husband told me a couple weeks ago that only FOUR people were working in Havana.. some Cuban files have already been transferred to Mexico VO since late 2018.. and there has been rumblings for months now, that Havana embassy would be closing

I really don't know much about the Mexico VO (other than hearing they are slow)... but I have been creeping this thread now (just for my own curiosity)

Trust me, I wish that I had more info, I wish that I knew how this news would affect all of us..

thank you for sharing good or bad news as like myself I did not know Havana was closing! I am sure a lot of others did not know as well. Time will only tell what it does to the processing. But I sure something will have to be done. Those poor people are overwhelmed already with processing files. so image now...

Mexico VO is super slow , and I really have no idea how many officers they have . They have taken over much of Caribbean Latin countries for processing lately. I can’t help but be concerned , but I’m also trying to stay positive . Let’s see how this plays out . Who knows maybe it’s been going on with regular processing in Mexico without us even knowing all the extra were there ? I think this is the case and the official announcement was made today

I agree this is why they are slower than the other offices

I am 9 months in as well and background check has not started yet either. The processing bar claims only 14 weeks left

same! my processing bar claims 13 weeks left.. but I have given up hope that my husband will be here by then :(

Out of curiosity - what countries are your spouses from? do they physically have to go to the Mexico VO for interview/visa pick up?

Or would they mail their passport to Mexico, have the visa stamped, then mailed back to them?

Sorry for all the questions haha.. but the Havana process is (or WAS) quite different than other countries.. so now I have a TON of questions!

My Husband is in the Dominican Republic. Interviews are held there in the DR and the passport is sent to Mexico for visa to put inside.
