I got my ppr yay!!! So excited I think I might go to mexico city instead of sending it? Did they ask you in the letter to proof your legal status in Canada??

they did, and I answer all of your questions in my posts before.

But I'm nice so here it is again:

Yes they ask for proof of legal status in Canada

Yes they ask for the address where you're going to stay

It takes 2 weeks if you send it (plus shipping times)

It takes about 6 hours if you go personally. They're open Mon-Thu, 8-11 AM (it makes no difference whether you leave your passport at 8 or 11), and they'll ask you to go back at 2 PM, then they'll have you waiting 'til 3 PM (approx) when they'll give you your passport back with the visa, and a huge envelope with the stuff you need to enter Canada and instructions on how to waive customs for your first time move and get your Permanent Resident Card, as well as the Social Insurance Number (SIN) for health care.

I'm sorry I'm so distracted and read so many posts every day that I forgot you gave all that info already thank you very much yoy are very nice! I'm booking my flights this evening and let you know how it goes next week! Thank you jendrian again!

you're welcomed ;), congratulations again!

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with mailing times from the Embassy in DF. My husband got his AOR email on February 28 and it stated that they were mailing him a package that day that included instructions on how to obtain his PGR. Unfortunately he still has not received that pacakge AND he lives in Mexico City! It is making me sort of nervous as it has now been a week and its in the same city. The letter says to call or email if you do not recieve it within 60 days but that sounds ridiculously long. Any thoughts?

So it's only been 8 days since the email? It took the embassy 8 days to actually mail the package to me, and then a few days for the postal service to get it in my hands, so a total of about 2 weeks.

Hi KDR - my husband waited almost a month to receive the package in the mail after he got the AOR email - and he too is living in Mexico City!!!! I wouldn't start worrying until the 60 day mark arrives. Good luck!

Thanks everyone:) As long as others experienced the same waits! Im just so use to my nice little Canadian systems, hee hee.

I SENT AN EMAIL To Canadian embassy in Mexico City , all my correspondence has my mailing address and THE EMBASSY , keeps sending information to my attorneys mailing address , WHY WHY does the embassy keeps doing that when i sent them a request to change address ? I JUST found by CAIPS notes that they sent a regular envelope requesting new medicals and i never received.

how about changing address ????? I did it once by email and it didnt work , i did it on my cover letters when i sent information to mexico city and i guess they dont read cover letters????????????????????

why why why , embassy u making so difficult. >:( >:( >:(

as my uncle put it swiftly: "they may be canadians and it may be a canadian embassy in canadian soil, but they're working in Mexico and well, something's gotta stick on them from living in Mexico city"

Thats awesome...perfectly said:) My husband actually "lost" his military card and lets just say that it has pretty much been a full time job trying to get a new one this past week! Did you know that you have to look through massive books that have names listed...no alphabetical order or anything! You just have to search search search till you find your number....he was there for 2 days! I told him that will teach him right for losing his card.

Wow, I didn't know that. I'm treasuring that thing now

OMG thats horrible my husband didn't have that problem but he was never in the military so he just went to the military in Cuernavaca and brought what they requested on sedena and about 10 days after his mom picked it up for us. I suppose every case is different

Ahhhh.. Cuerna <3 <3 <3 <3
