Quick question here. We had our PGR back in May and it was sent off mid-May. We haven't heard anything yet which would put it at 80+ days between PGR and PPR. Should we be worried? I noticed that they usually haven't been taking this long. Is there any way for us to check with them to make sure nothing was lost/misplaced?

Did you order gcms notes? Or link your application to online ? What does status say?

Congratulations Herrera09!!

You should give us your complete timeline to add to the spreadsheet. I'm sure everyone is curious about how it went for you...

I don't know that I would be worried, but your application processing timeline is stretching out.

Could you update any missing information in your timeline on the spreadsheet please?? This would help to be able analyze your situation a bit. Did you have to submit any other additional documentation? Have you paid all of your fees already? Were there any medical issues that showed up in your exams? Are there any unusual circumstances in your application that may provoke additional scrutiny/checks by the Visa office officials??

I agree with nartcr. If I were you I would request your GMCS notes. It'll take at least 30 days to get the notes but it will help to understand somewhat what is happening with your application. I suspect they are waiting on criminality and security checks to finish up. You are likely already well past the eligibility stage.

You can make a case specific inquiry to the Visa Office, but you may just receive the "Be Patient, Your file is in process" reply. Maybe worth it to try for your own peace of mind...

The other option would be to enquire with your Federal MP. He/she can enquire on your behalf and if nothing else perhaps cause a nudge to your file within the system if someone is possibly sitting on it for some reason.

Your application is still within the general 16 month processing time window so they may just say be patient...

Good Luck and Speedy Processing!

Yeah so there isn't really anything to update! Literally nothing has changed since they requested the PGR in May. We paid the final fees along with the PGR so no issues there. There also isn't any medical issues and those were submitted with the original application. They did call our lawyer when they requested the PGR just to confirm nothing has changed medically but it wasn't an issue. There were also no extenuating circumstances with our application. Nothing even slightly that would raise red flags. Never has additional documentation requested.

I check online regularly and it still says:

1 We received your application for permanent residence on August 11, 2015.
2 We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on February 8, 2016.
3 We started processing your application on October 13, 2015.
4 Medical results have been received.

It has been like that forever. Is there somewhere else online I can look? I think we may write to our Federal MP and request the GMCS notes at this point.

Thanks!

Since you have a representative, you will not be able to link your application to new online system. Maybe he could do so, to see the status.
Before going the mp route , my opinion would be:
1) have your lawyer link your application to new Ecas system. Lawyers typically do not do this, but worth a try.
2) send an email ( by you/lawyer ) to CIC asking for status update.
3) order GCMS notes right away. My guess is it's the security/criminality clearance that's taking time.
4) in 30 days, if you don't get any response from CIC, and if no status update in gcms, go the MP route.

It is frustrating to read this from the May 2016 Forum:
"My application was filed on May 30th and I received confirmation from Ottawa today that I'm almost there. Have sent off a photocopy of my passport to London and will be receiving my COPR within 4 weeks!!!"""" Why can Mexico applicants sing the same song? :'(

Well, as I have quoted before, it is important for us to be realistic on timelines. I am hoping to unite with my wife in 8-9 months. Things are not going to speed up diplomatically for next few months given the clash between Ottawa and Mexico ( despite easing off diplomatic pressure following Nieto's visit ). Moreover as we near December, I hope our timelines to improve slightly better.

Despite diplomatic easing between liberals and Mexican govt, federal employees have warned liberals on opening up visa free regime for Mexico. Officials in Citizenship and Immigration opposed the move, warning that Mexico’s low standard of living, poor human-rights record and high crime rates will drive Mexicans to seek refuge in Canada. Liberals overrode bureaucracy, but we still have to deal with them..And bureaucrats test us with our patience.

And one more note: Mccallum made changes to Ministerial Enquiry Division (MED) access process for MP's few months ago. Anyone going through MP route can expect 2 to 4 week wait, instead of 1 week wait.
